That's a great price for this game. I know it's gotten some hate around the internet, but I've had a lot of fun playing multiplayer with this one.

Same here. Nazi Zombie mode pushed it past COD 4 for me.
I think i'll buy it at this price.
I'm not trying to start an argument here - but can someone calmly explain why there is so much hate out there for this game? Afterall, it's the same engine as MW, just enhanced in places. Is it just the weapon models you all loath or something?
In my opinion, this plays pretty much the same as MW, it just has better multiplayer maps, and I prefer the variety. The zombie maps are also a huge plus point for co-op play.

Oh wow, it's almost cheaper than retail with 50% off. Almost..
While I didn't like the singleplayer very much (but I've liked every singleplayer of every PC Call of Duty before this one), the multiplayer was quite a lot of fun. Too bad the servers are nearly empty on everything but deathmatch gamemode.

It's World War II.
It's not made by Infinity Ward.
I haven't played it so I don't know how good/bad it is, so I'm basing that on countless comments I've seen.

From what I've played of the campaign so far, its a lot of fun. Sure its Treyarch, but I haven't found anythign to hate.

A lot of the hate is irrational. I think a lot of people are subconsciously associating Treyarch with that annoying little copycat brother and identifying with Infinity Ward as the big brother.

Here are the reasons I prefer COD4 (strictly multiplayer):
-Better maps. WaW maps can be giant monstrosities that lead to very slow gameplay. COD4 maps are well-sized (that's what she said), and have a better attention to detail. By this I mean there are more hidden nooks that you can explore and later exploit. Also, COD4 maps are less buggy. Almost every WaW map has a glitch that allows you to get underneath the map, allowing you to shoot people and be invincible.
-Better weapons. The weapons in WaW are shit. In general, they have less ammo, are less accurate, and have less variety. There really isn't a decent assault rifle which is good for mid-long range, the mp44 pales in comparison to the m16, m4, Ak47, etc.
-Better sound. The sound effects in WaW are god awful. When you sprint, there is this annoyingly loud pitter-patter which doesn't seem to match the bobbing up and down of your character, which disorients you into thinking that it's someone else who is running. The weapon sounds aren't as full and real sounding as the COD4 weapons.
-Voice acting. COD4 has some of the best voice work I've heard. I like keifer and all, but the voice work on WaW seems forced and fake. "Tha dogs hunger for the flesh of our enemies!" who says that? I mean really...
-Vehicles. This might be the number one reason I went back to COD4. There is just no reason to have vehicles in this game. Leave that to BF games, I'd like to just have a straight up gun battle without giant tanks crushing everyone.
-Kill streak perks. Artillery and dogs were pretty cool, but I prefer the airstrike and helicopters.

Count me in as liking WaW more than 4. I enjoyed the maps more, I enjoyed the WWII setting more, Oldman and Sutherland +2, the campaign was more entertaining and coherent. All of my friends who I played online with agreed.
I bought the 360 version and am considering grabbing this deal. I think it just became cool to hate on CoD installments that weren't made by Infinity Ward. WaW proves that is not always true.

Does anyone know if you can use mod tools and mods with the Steam version?

You can. There is no difference between a retail and steam version aside from how you get them.

Note: The download from Steam includes the latest patch and the first two DLC map packs.

Are there still lots of people playing this game and the zombie survival mode? I've been reading a lot about empty servers and things and wonder if it's not just better to get the 360 version, if any.

Fair enough - Thanks for the reply. I'll have to dig out 4 again as I've only just setup 5/7.1 with WaW, properly impressed me! I did notice the bobbing not matching the sound, heh.
I've not played another WWII shooter on the PS3 thus far, which is probably why I like that setting so much, and I enjoy the more tactical battles rather than getting pushed (or pushing on a good game!) around the map endlessly. Not to say it doesn't happen on WaW, but much less frequently.
Again, thanks; that's what I was after, rather than the usual "Treyarch suck asses" argument with no actual reasoning behind it.

I decided to purchase this before the sale ends in an hour, since it's my first CoD game on the PC and the price was right.
