EA has released twelve new screenshots (http://www.gamingnexus.com/Default.aspx?Section=Article&I=982) from the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 2 Modern Combat. The new version will include a few new vehicles, improved Hotswapping, and a new stat tracking system.

Nice to know the 360 BF2 has grass.

EA enabling drug use? I'm surprised they didn't go with heroin.

Thats incredible, I don't know how EA does it. I mean the talent it must take to turn every XBox and 360 game into a PS2 game, amazing.
shhhhh dont tell anyone but I think EA has magic powers

Battlefield isn't about graphics, it's about gameplay. No other game has large battles that are as fun. If it runs at 30 or 60fps rock solid, that's all I care about. Does anyone know if this version supports squads and commander?

Blah Blah Blah when I spend $60 on a game I want the full package sound, gameplay and graphics. If all that mattered was game play we would still be playing on our SNES.

Yeah from what I hear they are putting a paint coat on the xbox version along with a couple of minor updates.
BF2 is about the gameplay. I'd take 60 fps and the best graphics they can do over 30 fps and the best graphics they can do anyday. Sad thing is most developers opt for the latter.

Are the graphics awful? No. In fact, they look better than the PC version.
Your argument is broken because SNES games play nothing like a 3d online shooter. Obviously there is more going on in a game like this than a graphical upgrade to Contra.

Damn right they do!

Now these are impressive. All the other screenshots of this failed to impress me, but these are a bit closer to what I expect from a x360 game.

Dunno about your PC, but I have yet to see a shot of the Xbox 360 version of BF2 that would put mine to shame. I would love to see an in game movie so I could really compare the two. Not to say I don't want to try this out really badly. In fact, if I could find an Xbox 360 I'd buy it.

These look OK. They look like they were taken with a digital camera off a monitor/TV though.
Pretty cool there's a snow based maps...that was something BF2 was missing.

What is this?
The ability to HotSwap was a feature of the Modern Combat single player campaign whereby the player could physically swap between allied units, accompanied by a cool whooshing effect, allowing the use of the full range of vehicles and weapon kits in any particular encounter. Which was nice.

Yeah Hotswapping would be Matrix-like, but still Xbox 360 version doesn't have the jets. Hmm, sad.

I'm sure they would if they could. The maps are all balanced for 24 players and so are too small for something as fast moving as a jet. The same is the case with the PC version where the 16 player and often the 32 player maps can't accommodate them.

Yes. Other than that, using a controller would suck though slightly less compared to using k/m. Fighter jocks use flightsticks for better dogfighting.

Can't help but wonder how using an xbox controller will be for BF2. I tried to use a Logitech gamepad (the one with the 2 analogue joysticks) to fly a helicopter in the PC version and it was all but impossible.
Hmmm, smaller maps, no jets (these might even be a plus now that I think about it +]). I think this would be a "Try before buy" game. BF2 on my PC is sweet. I'd have to have something that added a lot to the game to make me buy it twice.

It must be said that Modern Combat provides a very different experience to Battlefield 2. Beyond acknowledging they share similar unit types and some mechanics, direct comparison between the two is almost meaningless.

Yes, everyone should realize that to the best of our knowledge this is a port of the Xbox game. That means no multiplayer above 24 players, no jets, etc.
They're being stupid and porting the console version when I'd assume the 360 could handle the large maps of the PC version.
Edit: Removed the inaccuracy about the current-gen version not having helicopters.

The console version has helicopters; the current gen. website (http://www.battlefield.ea.com/BF2MC/) shows at least six in their vehicles section.

Will the 360 version be getting patches, expansion packs, and/or booster packs?
edit: I call bullshot on this. Those shots look way too doctored up. And they don't even look impressive at all.

Well, they don't have a HUD so they're not in-game. I'd say they're representational shots from gameplay where the game is paused and camera moved for drama.
It's certainly not a bullshot, as these are well within the 360's capabilities. The models, lighting, and particle systems all look easily feasible to me.
There may be some effects applied to the entire screen--for instance, a very slight depth of field blur or grainy filter--but these, too, would be effects I expect from a 360 game.

Three gameplay movies (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/battlefieldmoderncombat/media.html) are up at GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/).
