Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/) has recieved word (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/thegodfather/news_6143214.html) regarding the updated release dates for The Godfather.
The PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC editions of The Godfather will arrive in North American stores March 21, with Europe set to receive the don on March 24. While the Xbox 360 and PSP versions won't be shipping alongside the rest of the versions, EA did indicate that both would find their way into stores by the end of 2006.
Anyone planning on getting this?

I love The Godfather, so I'll probably end up renting it. I'm still wary of licensed games in general, so buying it is not a sure thing.

Considering that Francis Ford Coppola himself said that he did not approve of this game, I'm going to have to pass.

Dunno I have a siginficant amount of skepticism about this game. I don't want to pass early judgement, but admittedly I'm not too excited or have much hope for this game.

considering it's an EA multi-console multi gerational port I just cant get excited about this. Maybe if it was being designed from the ground up for the 360 by a real developer it would be easier to look forward to but alas that is not the case. I'll wait for the reviews then borrow it from a friend.

It all depends on storyline. Since we obviously won't be playing as Michael I am... hesitant to support the game.

Hmm let's see:
EA games is making it
It is based on a movies series (which often don't turn out well)
It is coming out on all major platform except the DS
The gameplay videos don't really look good

How could I not pick this up after the amazing Goldeneye: Rogue Agent?
Where is that guy who defends EA to the death in every thread?

Player1? Good question, but I'm sure if you say Electronic Arts three times in succession he'll make an appearance. :)

Anyone see the latest screenshots for this? I noticed that the car wheels for some of the vehicles weren't in the place they were supposed to be, they were behind the car or in the middle, anywhere but the wheel arches.
I'm definately not holding my breath for this game, time to re-install Mafia me thinks.
If its like gta:sa i buy it, if not, i will pass.

*laugh* ... *shudder*
In polite circles, we don't speak of such things.
I'll probably rent it, on the offchance it's a game I'd really like to play. Then I'll either A) ignore it, B) pick it up immediately, or C) wait a few months for it to show up in the bargain bin.

Electronic Arts three times in succesion .....
I played it at E3 and wasn't very impressed. I upset one of the developers when I told him - "If you shoot someone in the knee, will they fall on their knees? That just doesn't seem realistic to me"
And it doesn't. Three times during the demo they had us shoot guys in the knees and they would fall on their knees.
I don't know about you guys, but when I really hurt some part of my body I try not to FALL ON IT immediatly after.
It upset the guy that was showing us the game.
Other than that it just looked like a Mafia / GTA hybrid to me.

Not really. . . kind of a strange idea I thought. I'll wait for Godfather 3 cause I hear they are gonna let Sofia Coppala program part of it. . . and you know thats gonna work out great!

No, no, no. It'll be called Evil Avatar: The Movie and feature the tagline "Evil Fanboys Lurk Around Every Corner." Watch out Kel!!!
By the way, you guys forgot that you also have to mention Nintendo for him to show up. This is how it's done:
Nintendo is the bestest and EA sucks my balls!
There, if that doesn't summon him nothing will. ;)

Anyone planning on getting this?
In a word: No.

After "Godfather 3," I don't really care what Coppola says about the Godfather series.

Depends, I really liked Mafia (the PC version mind you) so if this comes anywhere near that experience (been dying for a proper sequel), Yeah I'll get it!
:poof:
Ta Da! I have appeared! The Defender of EA, cape and all! ;)
but seriously, I don't think just because something is a licensed game means its gonna suck. What makes someone's original idea any better than another person's original idea? All a licensed game is an interpetation and expansion on an original idea... it just hapens to be an idea you've already got knowledge of.
Also, just because EA's doing something, doesn't mean it's going to suck. Hell, if that were the case, EA would've gone the way of Acclaim, Majesco and LucasArts (oh snap!) a long time ago. They've been the TOP 5 publisher of games for the past 20 years. You don't do that sucking (unless you're a whore and that's what you get paid for).
Have you guys seen Fight Night 03? That shows that you can do something that looks great and be from EA. Hell, even Most Wanted is pretty good.
Anyway, that's my piece about these sad generalizations that have gone on. And with that said, I think the game will suck and it'll be as pooey as Catwoman. :D

Anyone planning on getting this?I think this is something that can best be summed up in the spirit of Dr. Cox from the NBC show Scrubs, played by excellent John C. McGinley.

No-no no-no no-no NO! One thousand times, no. Hell, two thousand times no. In fact, if you took all the "no"s in the world, rolled them up in one big No Katamari, and rolled it across the Earth, after that Katamari got so big that the camera panned out far enough that the screen was one big white blur, it would still only be big enough to be the center of the 'o' in the 'No' that I'm telling you now. Nooooooooooooo.
Wow. I feel so much better having gotten that out.
