Many thanks to GameDaily-Biz (http://biz.gamedaily.com) for the head's-up (http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/news/?id=11692).

Majesco Entertainment today announced they are publishing Guilty Gear Dust Strikers for DS and Guilty Gear Judgment for PSP. Both games are being developed by Arc System Works. Guilty Gear Dust Strikers will feature classic Guilty Gear fighting (over both screens) with 21 different characters, in addition to touch screen minigames. Guilty Gear Judgment throws a new spin on the franchise with a beat-'em-up segment, along with the ability to play Guilty Gear X2 #Reload, with wi-fi multiplay for up to two players available in either mode.

"Widely praised as one of the leading 2D brawler franchises, the Guilty Gear series has a long history of offering gamers deep, character-driven game play," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing for Majesco. "These exciting new installments will provide hours of entertainment while offering two unique new game play experiences that fans can enjoy on the go."
Both games are scheduled for a Spring 2006 release.

Hopefully this will be the start of an upturn in Majesco's fortunes.

This is the best news I've heard in a long time. I can finally get my rock n' roll witch/giant scalpel wielding doctor fix!

I heard about the PSP version....but a DS version is just as exciting, if not more. Gradius and GG on handhelds. Life is complete.

I am really glad they are doing something different with the series. Guilty gear has been the same in every iteration I've played. I mean, its a good game but c'mon! Why did you put new box art on it? It the same thing over and over!!

They made new ones because each one was fun.

And I am hella excited about the DS one. Guilty Gear: WITH MINIGAMES. This will be awesome.

Oh man, I know that last part sounds really sarcastic, but I mean every word. I am totally psyched about this.

I saw some preliminary video of Guilty Gear Dust Strikers and I was thoroughly unimpressed. I'm a fan of the series for its batshit-insane gameplay, and it looked wholly sedated on the DS. I might be wrong, but I seem to recall there being up to four players in a battle - reminded me of Smash Bros.

It just didn't have the excitement that the other GGs had.

I may just go and get the PSP version, though. The only game I own is Lumines, but portable ass-kickery is hard to pass up.

The only GG that had four players in a battle was GG Isuka, which wasn't considered as good as the others. It was a mess compared to the original and it's proper sequel, so why anyone would want that again is beyond me.

Im pretty excited to see what they do with the DS version but come on... Dust Strikers? Why oh why must all the games be D.S. titled.

In that same vein, remember the N64? Where every single game was titled Name of Game: 64.

Well, only one of these two portables has a good d-pad. So you know which edition of the game I'll be getting. (Yes, it's kind of a troll post, but it's also the truth.)

At least the "DS" stands for something most of the time. It's not just a random number like "64".

If the DS has online play too, I'll snatch it up quick. I am importing Bleach DS too. OH THE 2D ONLINE FIGHTING GOODNESS. I'll probably buy both, as I can never have too much GG. I doubt I will even play the single player portion for the PSP.

Hopefully this will be the start of an upturn in Majesco's fortunes.

That would be nice but as good as the GG games are I don't think any of them have really sold that well.

It's as if everyone conforms to a crappy naming scheme except Nintendo themselves.
