Sony has announced a PSP version of Killzone entitled Killzone: Liberation set to be released Q42006.
Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla Managing Director, commented "We were keen to ensure Killzone: Liberation was totally unique and offered PSP owners a different Killzone experience. So, Killzone: Liberation has been developed from scratch – creating what we think is an intense portable gaming experience. Although Killzone: Liberation is totally new it stays true to what made the first Killzone such a great success - the characters, weapons, style and a continuation of the same great plot."

Interestingly, at the time of the PS3 Killzone video, this PSP version was being called Killzone 2. I wonder if they changed the title because everyone was prentending that the PS3 movie was Killzone 2 (even though it never said that).
Also, wasn't the story concidered pretty crappy by most people? I thought the only generally agreed upon success of the game was the art direction...?

This is the cinematic demo they showed previously, on UMD, and looping over and over.
"Check out these grafics man!!!"
it stays true to what made the first Killzone such a great success
I am confused. I thought Killzone was kindda sucky.
I mean "fiddy cent" sold a lot also, but saying it was a great success is kindda like saying the black plague was a great success.
Why is killzone the "flagship" of Sony now? What did I miss?

I thought Killzone was actually pretty good. I thought it was really underrated.

They sold it as a "Halo killer". I guess that didn't help setting up the expectations.
And yes Tia, I hate to break it to you but sales determine if a product is a success or not. From a business standpoint anyway.

The art direction of the first Killzone was great. The story was good, or at least as good as a well-made action movie, and better than most of the generic space marine shit that developers usually crank out. The gameplay was ok, but could have been great. It was really tarnished by a lack of polish, and held back by the hardware.
The PS3 game should be incredible only because the hardware will be able to handle it. This PSP version... I don't know. I'm not a big fan of isometric third person games. It could go either way.
Sadly I've just not been a big fan of my PSP lately.. I just haven't been able to get into it, and the library of games is kinda well, it sucks.
I was really anticipating the original Killzone, until it came out.
