Its not tied to the movie in any way, shape, or form. Its tied to the original cartoon through the voice cast, and the comics through the style. There is absolutely nothing from the movie in this game.

That said, I'm looking forward to the demo. I've had a lot of hopes for this game, and it'll be nice to find out if I'll be let down or if it will stay on my buy list.

I am honestly very surprised by this. I was interested in this game, especially due to the voice and writing talent behind it. Then all the rumored Eidos minimum reviews rating requirements hit and I got worried it was going be crap. Letting people try the game before it ships helps me get interested again. I hope it is good.

I know, it's lame! What is my incentive to pre-order if I don't get access to an exclusive demo? Do they expect me to play this publicly available demo and THEN buy it if I like it? What kind of insanity is that!? It's all backwards!

Congratulations Eidos, you just lost a sale.

Still really really really excited to play this game. I loved the Batman cartoon they got all the voice talent from, and I've got into the comics a lot recently, so this could be the best thing ever. Don't let me down Eidos!

SENORDUCK will play as BATMAN this FRIDAY, and is excited to play against the JOKER in ARKHAM ASYLUM on his XBOX 360tm electronic game console. I should write press releases.

Yeah, too bad Ghostbusters sucked...

Didn't Wolverine Origins suck too then? Whatevs, I liked both of them. And soon, I WILL be THE BATMAN. Played a short demo @ Best Buy, and I was very excited at what I saw.

Heres to hoping it's a good game. Been waiting to try it for a long time.

Yeah, too bad Ghostbusters sucked...

Wait what? Guess someone forgot to tell me about this. I thought the game was very fun and wellpaced. And all the original characters and actors it was even better.

Are the only reasons I think this game might break the failure mold.

Its always nice to get a demo before the game comes out.

As much as anything else, it shows confidence in the product.

I think it might be more effective to release the demo just days, or at most a week, before a game releases. When a demo succeeds in making me interested in a game, I want the rest of the game right THEN - not two weeks from then. That's enough time for me to become interested in the next shiny thing or to at least have lost enough excitement that I've relegated the game to my Gamefly queue.

Really?? It is a surprise to see this as most people don't really seem to understand the amount of extra development time it take to create a demo. Not to mention multiple demos. I'm sure the game will do fine without your dime. Besides it is not like someone is holding a gun to your head to pre-order.

You let me know how playing as the Joker works, considering he's a PS3-exclusive feature.

Releasing a demo two weeks before the game's launch is an extreme show of confidence in the current market.
With the slew of demos coming only as a preorder incentive or a week or two after release, giving the public a free demo weeks before the game comes out essentially proves that the devs think they've got a badass product on their hands.

Here's hoping.

You're lack of reading comprehension aside, playing as the Joker is is really cool, but not as cool as it sounds. You are only able to use him in special joker rooms in a mini-game that is not attached to the plot (360 users can also do these as Batman).

Don't get me wrong; a playable Joker does make me envious of my roommate's PS3, but I'm not so envious that I want to buy my own PS3. . . even if I was living on my own and couldn't use his for those few mini-game levels.

Yeah, I knew how drastically limited the Joker "mode" is, but it's still a nice perk. I own both consoles, so up until they announced that nice little exclusive, the version I got was essentially left up to the toss of a coin. Not so much anymore, especially since there's absolutely no multiplayer element.

I think it speaks volumes about Eidos' confidence about the game that they'd release a demo before it ships...

Download of the demo the minute it becomes available, and more than likely follow that right up with a pre-order of the PS3 version of the game. My wallet is starting to look awfully anemic.

Just came back to say that, to whomever was too dense to figure it out, Ghostbusters certainly did not suck. It was stellar.

It was simply a snark at Drak's "hope it breaks the mold" comment.
plenty of games have broken the mold lately, i see no reason to suspect that this one wont do the same.

Though I must admit, I am in a depressed mood in general about the future of gaming.

I agree with several of the above posters in that releasing a public, free demo 2 full weeks before launch is an extreme showing of confidence in their game.

I was honestly worried about the minimum preview score debaucle earlier last week. That's normally a huge red flag that a bad game is on the way (see: Spiderman3). Combine that with all the attention/hype this game has been getting, it just seemed destined to be a bomb.

However, after this little tidbit of news, I'm looking forward to it again. Either way, we'll find out Friday.

This doesn't seem to be based on the recent films at all from what I've seen. I adore the voice work from the old animated series and can't wait to hear Conroy and Hamill make their return.

Though if any of the material is borrowed from the films, that won't necessarily be a bad thing. Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay did the same thing and turned out surprisingly good.

What about the PC demo!? They whine about piracy of PC games but yet don't do simple things like making a demo available to give people an idea of what the game is like w/out having to pirate.

Publishers really are a bunch of douche bags.

There will be a PC demo, didn't you read the article or visit the website? Pirating a game to "try it out" is such a lame excuse anyway. I don't know anyone who has downloaded the full game and then went out and bought a copy of the game once they finished the free pirated version they already have. People just say that to make themselves feel better about it. Don't get me wrong, there are times where piracy is ok in my book, but this is not one of them.
