Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/30/pc-owners-spared-modern-warfare-2-bundles-difficult-decision/)reports that only console gamers are going to get a crack at the Nightvision goggles available in the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2 as you will only be able to purchase the game and no special editions.

It's a relief, then, for PC gamers that neither the Hardened Edition nor the all-out Prestige Edition will be available for PC. You're forced to buy just the game, like a normal person.

Indeed, if it stays free then I'm all for not getting special editions and what not. Now I just have to figure a way to get CoD4 to not bluescreen me during intense matches.

I am still getting this on the 360 for the Xbox live side. We have been having a lot of fun playing COD4 again lately.

I hardly ever buy the collectors edition stuff for PC anymore. With Steam out there, I don't see a point.

I wouldn't have touched the prestige, but I wouldn't have minded having the hardened version. I have the CoD4 CE... it would have been nice to have them matching. The price was steeper this time anyway; I'm probably better off without the temptation to waste money.
