Proving once more that there's no accounting for taste (or that advertising can be to gamers what the Pied Piper was to rats), TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com) is reporting (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10102/50-Cent-Bulletproof-Becomes-a-Blockbuster-Hit-at-Retail/) that 50 Cent: Bulletproof has sold in exces of 1 million (yes, MILLION) copies worldwide to date.
VU Games announced today that 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the hit title created in collaboration with hip-hop music sensation 50 Cent, has sold through more than one million units.* Since its global launch in late-November, 50 Cent: Bulletproof has been in high-demand at retail stores in the U.S. and U.K. The game boasts over four CDs worth of music including new exclusive music by 50 Cent, more than a dozen music videos and tons of bonus features. It is available for the Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.
"The exciting convergence of gaming and music helped make 50 Cent: Bulletproof one of GameStop's top selling titles in the month of December," said Bob McKenzie, Sr. Vice President of Merchandising.
No word as yet on how many copies have been traded in to used-game retailers.

My thought exactly...
I wonder why we don't have as many creative titles as we should?
Holy Moses ... million copies...
If that's the games that make money nowadays the future of our favorite industry and hobby doesn't look too promising

This is a good argument against people who say game companies would make more money if they "made better games".

Well, most of the people who bought the game where I work acted like they were retarded rapper kids. They were the people who had an xbox with several games. Halo, Halo 2, Madden, NBA Live, and GTA.

I laughed out loud when I was buying Forza and some sub-urban "ghetto" white kid, walked up to the counter and bought that game. His exact words were "I gotsta get me ma fitty game".

This is one story I'm definitely reading about on air this Friday. "From the department of news crafted by our malevolent government to make us cripplingly depressed..."
You people have no idea how many 13-15 year olds love fifty. And most of them can get $50 without a problem out here in Brooklyn.
8 Million people in NYC.
Maybe 1/8th is of the 'ghetto' populance.
Blame NYC for this.

BONUS! :)...
'Ghetto' culture.
Basically, gangsta rap, bling bling, guns, hoes, getting blazed / cruncked out and all of that stuff.
In more suburban areas this isn't that appearant. The younger population in Brooklyn, and NYC in general leans in this direction.

Yeah I knew this thing would go over big in general.
Is there nothing to be said for a game like this (selling so well) helping to keep the door open for games like F.E.A.R., DAoC, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay and so on? At least from VU Games' perspective.
Not knowing really anything about the game - besides the obvious - I'd say the exclusive content had a lot to do with the massive sales. Strike when the iron is hot.

Why are we so mad here? So you don't like the game, don't buy it, don't play it. Some game company made money on a product and we're bashing it? Seems very cynical.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised. 50 Cent has sold millions of albums. presumably a GTA style game with his name on it would appeal to some of his young male fanbase? I'm sure it's not the worst game ever.
everyone here made fun of the media analyst for saying this would be a big holiday seller, I guess some of them might know what they're talking about after all?

Media Play closed all (most?) of their stores, and slashed prices on EVERYTHING, including new, recently released games. They had a SHITLOAD of copies of Bulletproof on the shelves, and they sold them all.
I blame Media Play because no one would have bought them if they weren't discounted.
Yeah, that's it.

Because its just more proof that companies are better off producing cheap rehashes than original content.

This just goes to show that even with creativity available, the masses will still consume the product that's more heavily advertised.

Because sales of a shitty game that sells based merely on the name and picture on the box do not make game publishers want to publish innovative, unique, non-licensed games. Meanwhile, many of those innovative, unique, non-licensed games such as the stellar Psychonauts cannot sell anything near the amount this sells. That sucks.

4)must buy grill
5)Make a video game
