Back in 2006, there was a game announced with Peter Jackson at the helm. It was basically going to be his take on Halo, and I'm sure it was going to be totally awesome. Welp, it has been confirmed that game is no longer happening. Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/24/peter-jackson-tells-joystiq-about-the-halo-movie-video-games/):

That Halo project is no longer happening, it sort of collapsed when the movie didn't end up happening.

Anyone surprised? I totally am.

never thought i'd say it, but too much halo going on right now. ODST is pushing it, Reach is something that always should have happened, and the halo anime basically makes me want to jump off a roof.

It just means one less Halo game that I have to buy. (even though I probably won’t pick up ODST on day one)

I do not understand how we could have somebody's "take" on the Halo universe anyway, seemed like a dumb idea.

That's like saying the director is irrelevant to a movie, it's always going to be the same, but that's just not true.

Well, very simply, it means you take the concept, the universe, the characters of the game and re-work them into a Hollywood-style narrative: a movie.

This almost always means massively expanding whatever scrawny excuse for a storyline the game had, expanding or changing a few plot points or characters, etc.

Anyone's who's seen a movie adaptation of a game should know the drill.
