Debunking a previous news post (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9034) it appears as though the Backwards Compatibility updates for the XBox 360 aren't on hiatus. (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/682/682896p1.html)In an official but canned statement, Microsoft said this: "The backward compatibility updates are not on hold, and we're working to deliver them as soon as possible. We don't yet have a delivery date for these and will update you as soon as we can."
Microsoft said the information originally generated from a podcast that was misinterpreted.
Excellent news. Knite just mentioned to me this morning how he wants to play the latest Brothers in Arms on his 360.

BIA is my first priority, FSW: Ten Hammers is my 2nd.

I want to play both Brothers in Arms titles and DOOM 3 on the 360. But, it just depends. Microsoft has done such a shitty job of emulation on some titles (Half-Life 2 & Fable) that you just never know if a title on the list will run right or not.

Panzer Dragoon.
That's all I ask. Please. I'm begging here.
Man, i wish somebody had been courteous enough to post and tell people that this came from major nelsons podcast a month ago.
Too bad we don't have anybody like that here.

We're still here. Besides, by your own admission, this is NOT news. :)

It was prior to launch to hype the system. Now it's "well, you should have just kept your old xbox."

That was where the initial thing came from, but it was wrong. Apparently it was a mis-interpretation of the podcast.

It's not wrong, it's just not official and not delayed. Thats the major thing. The schedule has been to release the next update in the spring time period and thats what the guy said. When it was reported this weekend, it was given the spin of delayed till march, which wasn't accurate.
But until they officiall announce a date, it's basically not announced at all.

Sounds like PR spin to me honestly. They just don't want people thinking everyone at MS is on vacation.
So what's wrong with Fable? I have Fable Lost Chapters... am I affected by whatever the issue is with the emulation?

Please just allow me to play Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. I also have an unopened copy of Conker: Reloaded I would really like to use, but PoP is the priority. I also want to check out the new Gauntlet (yes, I know it's not great, but I like simply multiplayer co-op games). I gave up on X-men Legends 2. I just bought the Gamecube version last week instead. It's not nearly as sharp, it's not wide screen, and I don't get to play it in high resolution, but at least I get to play it rather than stare at it waiting for a compatibility update.

Well, Dan Dan, you could just hop in the Live Arcade and grab the original Gauntlet for $5. 4 player Live co-op there.
Nice try with the ninja edit, but it will be preserved forever.

Unfortunately I don't have broadband where I live, but I did manage to grab Gauntlet off of Marketplace when I went home for the holidays. But I have to say, classic Gauntlet isn't nearly as amusing as I remembered it being. I played to about level 8 with my niece and nephew and we were all rather bored by that point.

How bad is Fable on the 360? Totally unplayable or somewhat tolerable?

Just play D3 and HL2 on the PC where they are meant to be played.

Wow. *shakes head*
