Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com) has the details (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=3168).
[The movie rights to] Siren have been bought by Ghost House Pictures. The production company is co-founded by Evil Dead and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi. Shooting on the movie version of Siren is expected to begin this year with a script from Michael Gordon who the report states will work closely with Siren's game director Keiichiro Toyama. A game sequel to Siren is expected to be released this year.
I haven't played this yet, but one of my buddies swears it's the best survival-horror game out there - surpassing even Resident Evil 4 for originality and creepiness.

Some of my friends love this, but they still think Fatal frame is the best series. I just love the CoC game :) and the last RE (ok maybe not true survival horror anymore but...)

I really enjoyed Siren. It is a pretty creepy game that puts Pulp Fiction and Memento to shame when it comes to breaking up the temporal flow of the storyline. This is a good thing.
I still need to finish Siren though. The only slight against it is that it is quite difficult to navigate around the areas as there is no map and it can be difficult to know where you are going. That said, if you like a truly scary Survival Horror game, Siren is up there with Silent Hill.

So, how does it compare to Fatal Frame? I'm more of a Silent Hill fan myself, personally, but I've got friends who swear up and down FF's the scariest series ever. I haven't gotten around to trying it either series yet, though the camera mechanic does seem interesting.

I'll give Siren thumbs up for creepiness and fun gameplay but the storyline, told through 10 (if I remember correctly) different characters over the space of three days was incredibly convoluted. I found I couldn't feel for any of them as I only played each one for very short periods of time. I think that game would have been much better with only two or three characters.
For sheer creepiness (not gotcha! but "damn, I gotta turn on all the lights") Fatal Frame definatly takes the cake. Silent Hill 1-3 would be next, imho.

I thought it was too hard, I would always get lost... Scary as hell though.

Fatal Frame and Silent Hill are tops in terms of scary. As for Siren, it's not as scary and the gameplay is little unsatisfying, it's mostly a stealth game and plays a little like Splinter Cell. The good thing about Siren though is that it tries to do a lot of things differently than other survival horror games, and it's a long game. I put it on my "maybe I'll get around to it someday" list. Siren 2 looks good though.

Any creepiness in Siren is immediately taken away one you hear the voice acting in the game.

I found Siren to be really tough, and ended up shelving it. I really liked the idea of the "sight-jacking", or whatever it was called. The faces of the characters were creepy too. I'm pretty sure it was made by the guy who did the first Silent Hill.
For overall creepiness, for me its Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. SH and its constant feeling of impending doom, always being like a step behind of some "thing", following its trail of gore and bodies til you finally catch it (or it catches you). Fatal Frame, well, its just those ghosts, how they can attack at any time, any place, thru walls, at save points, just constantly kept me on edge. And ghosts scare me.
