All of your Aussie Punch-Out fans rejoice! Punch-Out for the Wii will hit Australian shelves on August 27th, 2009 but will only be available at JB Hi-Fi.

Kotaku and Vooks have together confirmed that the Wii reinvention of the classic Nintendo series Punch-Out!! for Wii, imaginatively titled Punch-Out!!, will be hitting retail in Australia on August 28, and will only be available at JB Hi-Fi.

For further details, including quotes from Rose Lappin, check out Kotaku (http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/07/punch-out-to-hit-in-august-only-at-jb-hi-fi/#more-344782), and for the official date details, hit up Vooks (http://www.vooks.net/story-18194-Australian-PunchOut-release-date-revealed.html).

I'm assuming JB Hi-Fi is an electronics store...?

I'm assuming JB Hi-Fi is an electronics store...?

Pretty much! DVDs, movies, TVs, music, games, etc...

Anywho, this is awesome news! Too bad I've already gone and imported it already...

...last month.

Thanks again, Nintendo!

What's the deal with this? Why would nintendo assume that this game wouldn't sell well enough as to limit it to one store? Granted, JB is the only store I buy anything audiovisual related at, but I know that in my hometown, they don't have one.
Reminds me of when RE2 was released on N64 and was only available for rent at Blockbuster. It never saw a retail release.

I wouldn't be too surprised if what she said in the piece with Kotaku was correct. Outside of the heavies like Mario, or the mainstream things (like WiiFit or I'm sure the upcoming Wii Sports Resort), things like this won't sell well.

Something like Wario Land: Shake Dimension barely sold anything, to the point I picked it up for $50 brand new from Toys R Us a week after its release.

The reason of course could be because we receive things so damn late compared to everyone else. But whatever. Import is your friend.
