Pro-G (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/) has posted nine screenshots (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/media/1276/) of the upcoming PSP title Splinter Cell Essentials for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks to Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/) for the tip.

Doesn't look bad, but I have no idea how a game like (a 3D) Splinter Cell would translate on the PSP.

Look pretty good. I have no ideas how the control will work though. As well, the missions will have to be smaller with more checkpoints, since this needs to be "on the go".

PSP games should have the 'on the go' feeling, but the load-times are so annoying that I don't even bother. Loading times on a handheld make no sense. I say wait for the hardware to catch up...but it's too late now.

What the fuck? How is that game so ugly and why are they releasing such horrible shots? It hurts my eyes.
Actually, I guess it is a step up from SC DS.

What isn't a step up from that game? Oh wait I know (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/driving/burnout/)!
By the way, this isn't a shot at the DS, its that this game is just so funny.

Hrm, I just watched the in-game footage on the 1up show for today. It's not as good looking once you see it in motion, unfortunately. From what I could gather, they're going metroid prime style. Where you move with the stick, then have to stop and hold down a shoulder button to go into aiming mode.

I was pretty skeptical about PSP games being a wholly different experience than their console brethren, but games like Metal Gear Ac!d made a believer of me. Splinter Cell for the PSP could be great, but if they just crap something out, like Chaos Theory for the DS, I'll pass.
My PSP is showing its value as time passes. Sony isn't marketing it enough though.
Burnout on the PSP made me want the Burnout on the 360 so much.

Hmm... it's not like I have a PSP or anything, but I love me some Splinter Cell, and wanted to comment. It seems like there's alot of bright lighting, and that most of the shots where Sam's hurting someone, there's another guard right there. Now, I know this is just like 9 early screen shots, but it doesn't seem like there's alot of stealth going on.

It doesn't look that bad at all. The real kicker (as always) will be the control mechanics.

So what is this? A bunch of missions from the old games, except shitty looking?
PSP - it's like a turd you can take outside.

I'd say it looks quite good--remember, the PSP is closer to the Dreamcast in power. But I find it funny that the trademark of Splinter Cell-shadows-is missing. The environmental lighting is great though.

I looked at these again, and I'm laughing about how one of the screenshots has an extremely obvious collision error in it. Well, at least they'll keep one Splinter Cell tradition. Guns and feet sticking through about everything.

This game better be better than the crap Gameloft and Ubi put out for the DS. It was ok and all...but...AGH! THAT GAME WAS CRAPPY! i cant believe i bought that for 40$. See what happens when u dont listen to reviews and hope that a game u love will be respected? Damn u Ubisoft. Damn u to hell.
