I wonder if there was a lot of head scratching going on when they had to decide if the game was going to be titled "Medieval II: Total War" or "Medieval: Total War II"...

Oh my God. Dreams really do come true at Creative Assembly. MTW was my favorite game of all time. I still play it occasionally, even more so than Rome:TW. This is simply awesome news.

Awesome. I never really got into the medieval one as much, but I bought the Shogun: Total War. I was floored that game was totally awesome. My brother plays Rome and Medieval like it is some kind of drug.

....wow....
Fuck you, bigot.
I mean I guess you were complementing the AI in the game, but to preface it by using racial slurs...that is unacceptable.
On subject, I never played Medieval: Total War. I did play Rome: Total War though and any game from the same series has automatically got my attention.

You're unable to live a "moment" are you? PC didn't exist a thousand years ago.
Besides which it's hardly and insult when it's the wrong one.

Medieval was easily my favorite of the Total War games but Rome has so much more depth to it. It'll be great to see a combination of the two of them.
On the side, there's no excuse for bigotry even if it was made in jest. This is the sort of rationalization used by people that said it was ok to use the term "nigger" in the 50s and 60s because at the time it was socially acceptable. There's no excuse.

MTW was my favourite strategy games of all times and from the list of features on the website, the sequel seems to maintain a lot of the features. Nice. Can't wait.

How about "Rednecks: Total War", based on the American Civil War? That would be cool too.

LOL. Now that is funny.
It's a game. I was reliving what my Supreme Commander of the English Imperial Military Council would say. After all I was killing thousands of muslims turk towel heads in that game. Oh shock
Relax.

While impressed I can not help but feel a little let down. I was hopeing for a new direction for this engine and in my heart of hearts I would have liked to play a Napoleon or the American civilwar type game with muskets cavalry and cannon. That in my opinion would be far better than a redone Medieval TW which I have already played to death.

I don't get it. This doesn't sound like a joke. It sounds like you are just using racist comments in casual conversation. If you are somehow being "ironically" racist then I don't see the difference. You still sound like an arse.
"Just FYI".

If you are being Ironic, then fine. If you are quoting the game, then double fine, but does that make the term not Racist?
I think you will find, given the chance to hold a conversation with me, that I am about as far away from politically correct as people can get. However, outright racism is not cool. "Raghead" is a racial slur where I am from, so I took offense.
It didn't sound like irony to me. I have friends whom I respect deeply, and I imagine by this point I do not have to point out that I am a fucking vicious anti-racist, who use racial terms all the time ironically or jokingly and I understand when that is the case.
I hate political correctness and biting my tongue so as not to offend some overly defensive people, but to me that was just using the term casually and that is racism.
If I took your meaning wrong, then my apologies. I even explained myself, and that shit is more rare than you could possibly imagine.

I'd like to see China: Total War or Greek: Total War. I'm willing to leave Napoleonic/US Civil War games for a proper DirectX 10 treatment 2 years from now. But Medieval is good enough. I just reinstalled the first game. Now, I'm going to uninstall it so as not to spoil the new one.
Heh. And here I was just thinking that I'd have to do the opposite, Frogleg: finish reuniting Rome under the one true Roman banner, and then dig out my old Medieval CDs. :)
I always liked to pick the German nation (I forget if it was called Germany, Germania, or just "German nation"). You started out stronger than most of the other states, but you were surrounded by enemies on all sides.
I liked the north african nation, I forget their name at the moment.

i never had the time to pick any one of the series but it looks hella awesome. Me being a history buff, I would love to see a game on the persians at the time of darius and xerxes vying for power over the tiber, greece, india, and cathay (china)
and then maybe an expansion pack where you play this upstart called alexander
does anyone know the timeline and release dates for this game series?

Holy Roman Empire at the time :)
