I am a huge huge fan of UFC 2009 Undisputed but the ranked matches have been all but worthless due to the constant quitting of sore losers who do not want a loss on their record and the subsequent points lost from their stats. The issue of quiting was originally rumored to be resolved in early June but instead THQ have now released details of an upcoming patch that will fix this issue and more.

This is "the biggest online issue", according to producer Neven Dravinski, and any future cheaters will be awarded a Loss, a Did Not Finish flag and have winning streak set to zero. Only the disconnecting party suffers, by the way.

The patch arrives "soon" and has other numerous tweaks, including a matchmaker for gamers with stable, fast connections. Coo. It's like Christmas.

Also, max points awarded online will be increased tenfold, the level cap boosted to 200, winning streak bonus lowered to three, a CAF cheat addressed and a PS3 auto-save bug solved.

More here. (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/ufc-quitters-will-be-punished)

It's been ruining the ranked play. They need to get this out fast, it should have been resolved already. The CAF bug has a minute impact compared to the quiting.

The quitting has ruined the online play. I never play it online and my record sucks because I don't quit and probably 7 out of 10 times I win the person quits and I do not get credit. I've stopped playing against people with really good records because you know they are quitters.

I just play Player Match's and the competition is really great fun. I've still had people quit - I tend to submit player reviews and call them out on it. People don't like being told they are a loser with cold hard facts.

"I didn't lose. The match didn't finish :D"
"Yes it did. You quit. You lost when you quit."

The trash talk is of an outstanding caliber though. I knocked a guy out twice in a row within a minute using a good counter, throw and ground/pound strategy. He gets all ratty and says I can't stand toe to toe - so I do and I still whoop him. Is everybody on XBL a gangster? "What? That's whack yo!"

You just feel like a gimp being the one guy online who doesn't quit when he loses. To be honest I think shifting the level cap upto 200 is pointless - the majority of level 100s will be cheaters.

I'm still totally in to the game but this solution can't come quick enough.

I haven't tried player match I'll try that tonight. I know people on xbox live always think they are gangsta and they are from South Central Los Angeles even though their profile says Ontario. But yeah I always do the player reviews and sometimes I send them a message telling them how cheap they are for quitting. It's so annoying.

After reading about this patch and really liking the demo, this is surely now a purchase :)

I love how when EvAv runs a UFC post, it is always accompanied by this extremely gay-looking screenshot. Is the guy underneath going for the frank, beans or taint?

It just happens to be the shot that's stored in the resources :)

The guy underneath is attempting to stop the guy on top from putting him into an armbar and submitting him. The guy underneath is actually my fighter of choice, Rampage Jackson.

I love how people still think of grappling as a gay thing.

Just kidding and stuff, it's fun to make fun of stuff that looks funny. I haven't played a single online match since the week the game was released, mainly because the lag between Europeans and Americans is ridiculous and it's really hard to find another European to play with. If only console games had dedicated servers for online gaming...

Hopefully the patch might do something about the lag. It's fine most of the time for me.

One guy got pretty pissed off because I submitted him and he claimed there was lag. That's no excuse for letting your guy gas out is it?

In case you can't tell I am scarily into the game.

Yeah, the lag is pretty bad in some cases. It doesn't really have much of an effect on the ground game, but striking is completely screwed up under lag, because punches go through blocks completely randomly and sometimes fail to register at all. It's not like they can do much about the lag though, some people just have absolutely useless internet connections and it's not like any sane developer is going to restrict those people from playing.

True. It's one on one as well so it's not like a 16 player FPS where if one person lags you probably won't even see it.
