Right now my first impressions of Battlefield 1943 are all bad. The game is too fast paced, you can't even find a game because your only option is Quick Match (there is no browsing for games), the aircraft controls are complete crap by default and you can't walk anywhere without getting the crap sniped out of you.
Who designed this bullshit? It seems like a piss-poor BF 1942 clone from some knock-off company.

I found the pace of the game slower then say BF:BC. I was able to loiter around bushes with a rifle, or a sniper rifle and take long distance shots at people without being noticed right away (by the way, sniping in this game requires skill, unlike BF:BC)
I tried to stay away from the "rush right in" tactic. I found myself dying quite the few times when doing that.
The thing I don't like is how it automatically spawns you closest to the action, so be sure you set spawning to manual. It will allow you to go somewhere else where you can get a tank or a jeep and wreak havok. Maybe it feels fast paced because your spawning right on the action and dying around that area. Try going somewhere else, grab the jeep, driving it close to where the enemy is and swith to the MG to wreak havok.
The games terrain is fabolous, high ground is of course of importance and use it to my advantage. I really find the play fantastic.

Crouch. Your name doesn't show up if you crouch.
And yes, I enjoy it. It's tons of fun.

I downloaded the trial, got some bullshit about couldn't connect to EA's servers, and promptly deleted it.
too fast paced? sounds perfect. I must acquire this.

I DLed the demo, just finished playing... IT HAS BEEN TOO GODDAM LONG SINCE I'VE PLAYED A MP SHOOTER. I wanted to cry. I giggled to myself as I flew circles around other pilots and bombing their buddies.

I just downloaded the demo and immediately had trouble getting online. I played the tutorial and it seemed like something I'd really enjoy but I refuse to buy a multi player only game that doesn't let me get online during peak play times. I just don't have that much spare time, I can't pick and choose when to play, I play when I've got a moment free.
Does anyone know if this is due to the server space being reserved for the full game versus the demo?

I have been playing for two days and my opinion has changed a little. I still think the planes control like crap compared to BF1942 and there are a few other issues with how it was 'dumbed down' (and I see no reason to dumb down anything except the controls), but it isn't bad. I've been having fun and I love being able to relax with the console controller vs Mouse/Keyboard.
I would love to see them make a 'real' Battlefield title for a console.
I would enjoy it if the game didn't just crash every single fucking match.

Well I found it great. After not being able to get on the 360 version for two days I tried the PS3 demo and it was great so I picked it up on there. So far the experience has been really good. I am a big fan of playing as infantry and I love using jeeps to quick drive into a spot then switch to the gun and take everyone out. Great game. Its easy to get kills and own flags, so it has been a lot of fun so far.
Getting really into it now.
It's pretty fun once you get the hang of the altered rules. Needs more maps, and I don't much care for what they did with tanks, and the lag could be better. As for aircraft, well, just like with BF1942 on PC, you need a flight stick to get the most out of it.
I inverted the stick for the flight controls and I kind of kick ass now.

I still havent tried flying yet. I hope to try out the tutorial the next time I play to get a handle on it so i can do some death dealing from above.

I haven't experienced any of the connection issues that seem to be troubling everyone else, but as stated by shadow763 playing it on PSN seems to be different than for everyone on Live.
I agree that there need to be more maps, or that the rotation needs to be better. Playing Guadalcanal 6 times in a row kinda sucks.

I played it a bit over the weekend and really enjoyed it. It's definitely simple, but that's exactly what I'm looking for. I can pick it up, play for about 20 min, then move on to something else. And while it definitely could use some more maps, I think that the limited selection is actually a benefit at the moment, as it means there's a lot less for me to learn before I feel like I can actually be effective in a game.
My biggest complaint at the moment is probably the flight controls. At some point during the tutorial I think that they say something about the controls being a way to balance the effectiveness of the planes. I would have preferred them simply to reduce the planes' damage though if there were balancing issues. That way they'd at least be fun to use, and it would have been more in the "pick-up-and-play" spirit of the rest of the game.

I was going to download this bullshit game, but then I kept just kinda sitting there and playing FUEL and, yaknow, enjoying myself. So now I won't buy it. Thanks, Evil Avatar! Seriously. $15 saved.

How much do I need to lead for a body shot from across a map with the sniper rifle? Do I need to lead at all? I can't figure it out ><

I think the aiming is a bit hit and miss at times, I have shot people dead in the head and not received any hits. I put it down to server latency myself but it has made me mad on several occasions which ended with me turning off my 360 and sulking at the unfairness of it all.

I've played Battlefield: Bad Company for a while now, so I'm use to MP.
All I can say as far as sniping is concerned, is that is is EASY to do.
Unlike some other sniper games, the crosshairs don't move or shake when aiming, so you're always accurate.
There is no bullet drop, but you need to lead about 1/4" to 1/2" (on your screen) in front of a target at a full speed to hit them.
Head shots are easy to get, and body shots will mark them on your map for squad-mates to kill.
The biggest issue is LAG. Even in BF:BC (a full retail game) the lag is HORRIBLE. I've shot at heads and watched them die after about 3-5 sec. That's why I recommend aiming quite a bit ahead of your target, not only for natural leading, but also for the lag.
Another issue concerning the lag...
When you get hit with a bullet, 9 times out of 10, you'll be dead before you can dodge or figure out where it came from. Chances are, a sniper has shot at you once, noticed you didn't move in that same second and will fire 2-3 more shots. By the time the first bullet hits after traveling through the internet, and you REALISE you've been hit, the other rounds are already half way to you.
Just a few more random tips...
(An excellent way to set up for an awesome sniper shot is to crouch in a bush and just barely poke your gun out, that way you can see through the foliage, but it is hard to see you from a distance. I've had tanks drive right past me without noticing...)
