They sure are slow to release new maps for what is essentially the only multiplayer for Half-Life 2.

They released the map a few hours ago.

To those that don't notice, they have released an update to cS and they include this map.

Actually Dystopia and HL2CTF are fairly well done. HL2CTF is so fast-paced and addicitve :0

Mods are not Valve releases, and thus don't count.

DOD Source? Anyway, the map was released when you posted that.

What about DOD: Source?

HL2 CTF is crap imo... the HL2 weapons are far too imbalanced for MP. But yay for the new map, I remember it now.

What about DOD: Source?

Or HL2DM which HL2CTF wouldn't exist without?

What about DOD: Source?

It was released as a seperate game unless you bought the silver or gold packages for HL2 over steam.

It doesn't actually come with Half-Life 2.

Also: The map is freaking beautiful.

Sweet. Gonna have to check this out. This was always one of my favorites next to CS_Vinyard. Anyone remember that map?

anyone remeber cs_thunder, probally my one of my most favorite maps ever. I also really love cs_747, i wish they remade that one with it being in air or something.

Sounds like that movie with Kurt Russel in it.

The one where Steven Segal died.

Executive Decision.

Silly movie. Fun concept though!

If memory serves me right, they've now released 6 or 7 new maps, about half of them brand new. Stop bitching, because frankly, many companies (like EA and Microsoft) charge you money for similar content.

There was a user made map for the original CS called cs_7472 (I think?) that took place in the air. I would not like to see 747 in the air, because you would be killing half of the map. The reason I like it so much is because it has both the brilliant wide open outside combat, and the intense close quarters in the plane.

No, they don't. Most games come with more than 3 maps when they are released. All they have done so far is finally "catch up" CS: Source to where it would be similar to the multiplayer for a regular shooter - if we are talking about a shooter whose multiplayer was an afterthought for the developers and they didn't plan on supporting it.

Most FPS games come with more multiplayer maps than CS: Source has now after what... a year?

I don't think that is really a fair comparison. Most games come with more maps, sure, but they are just slightly reworked versions of single player maps, or are using all the same assets from the single player. CS:S is a very diferent game then HL2, and uses completely new maps and assets (yes, I realize most of these are original CS maps. They still use all new assets, and are completely re-worked from the original version). Sure, Valve could have put through half assed deathmatch and capture the flag, but I think they took the higher route, and have been very happy with CS:S. And if you want the warmed over Deathmatch with in game assets, they have that too! Even without mods, the HL2 multiplayer scene is great.

CS:Source
DOD: Source

Yeah Valve offers next to nothing in terms of multiplayer support for HL2. LOL

Played the map for a few hours last night. It's excellent. Looks beautiful, and plays good too.

Yes, I have as well. The game will lock up and whatever sound was occuring at that moment will repeat in short bursts over and over. It happened within a couple of minutes every time I tried to play on Militia. I have the same problem with the Anzio map in DOD:Source.

I have a Radeon 9700 pro on a P4 3.0 with a gig of ram.

I think my system is choking on HDR or something. What sucks is I can never change my graphics setting while the game is running and connected to a server. The same crash will happen as described above. I need to shut off HDR and then connect to a Militia server and see what happens.

I hope you figure it out.

Eric

You have to understand that Evil hates PC gaming and everything associated with it. You cannot argue such points with him. :p

I've been pretty disappointed with Valve's apathetic attitude toward HL2DM. Two maps is almost nothing. The game desperately needs more official maps, even if they're just rehashes of single-player levels like the two existing maps are.

Not many more, but more none-the-less.

CSS launched with 9 maps. There are now 18.

Battlefield 2, a multiplayer only shooter, launched with only 12 maps. New maps you need to buy through the expansion or booster packs. Halo 2 launched with somewhere around 10-14 maps as well I believe, and they again charged you money for a time when the 9-map multiplayer pack came out.

lol all this talk about valve not releasing a multiplayer game for hl2.

lol, screw valve then and go play some of doom3 multiplayer, oh better yet, F.E.A.R multiplayer.

its seems to be the norm for most games that its either full multiplayer with single tacked on, or full single player with multiplayer tacked on.

CS_Militia is the best C-Strike map from the original game. The remake should blow everything else away...these C-S maps keep improving with every release.
