After the closure of Black Box this sequel wasn't exactly guaranteed but it looks like EA will, after all, be following up Skate 2...maybe. It depends on whether or not you want to believe Twitter.

Apparently EA is working on a sequel to Skate 2, if the Epicly Trife twitter is to be believed. Epicly Trife (NSFW) is a site dedicated to skating, and its twitter account said the following: "I just got told 'tonight we gotta celebrate,' one of the bro's got offered to be in SKATE 3." By no means a confirmation, we're still excited, as Skate 2 was not only a great sequel, but pretty much the best skating sim around. Plus, it's much easier to get up after falling down four flights of stairs in a video game, as gravity is a much more harsh mistress in real life.

Hopefully they crawl out of the pit of average that was the second game. The game is tumbling down the Tony Hawk trap faster than that series ever did. Back to the standards of the first one please!

Finally! someone who agrees with me in saying the sequel was rubbish. everyone keeps saying how its still an amazing game but to me it just seems like as you said its falling into the tony hawk trap. i bought skate. to move away from games like tony hawks now it just seems its slowly turning into one. hopefully the 3rd should be much better compared to the 2nd

My review is still kicking around.

It just pissed me off because skate was awesome and so Activision decided to scrap TH as it always has been. There was room for both but now we're left with a weak combo of the two and whatever the fuck that board thing ends up being.

It just went from having that community, grass-roots realism feel to...well...charging for video editing options. They got rid of Slappy's - that explains the shift in one if you ask me.

It wasn't bad - just rank average. As a sequel it did totally suck.

Although mechanically Skate2 was the better game, it was still very disappointing to play because of how similar it felt, I wouldn't even have called that game Skate 1.5.

I cant even play the sequel. Its like a worse version of the first game. The walking is crap, they basically added a few things people wanted, but did it badly. Then made the rest worse. Terrible game. For 10 bucks its worth it.

Hopefully the third one is what the sequel should be.

I just want a skate game and a Tony Hawk game. I will buy both every year. Promise.
