So, very occasionally I'll play a game and decide not to review it for the site. The usual reason for this being that I think my negative feeling toward a game won't be justifiable - me and it just didn't click and thats a shame. If I don't think I can make a sensible recommendation then I won't. It's only happened on one other occasion where I just felt that I was the wrong guy to put the opinion out. You might have disagreed with scores I've given or comments I've made in the past but if I put it out I truly believe in it.

I've decided not to review Ghostbusters because I really strongly disliked it. I was bored to tears constantly shooting randomly moving enemies and only got about 3/4 of the way through it. I thought the graphics were shabby, I encountered a fair few bugs and actually thought the story was pretty poor. Mechanically it was sound but just sooo dull. I'm a huge 'Busters fan and thought it underplayed a lot of the coolest stuff like throwing out traps. Best bit of the game? The extra feature that showed the rebuilding of the real Ecto.

I'm just really curious to know as to whether it was just me or whether the majority felt the same? The Metacritic comments (we'll just avoid the scores) all seem to point to it falling just short of greatness but it just doesn't seem like a game I can imagine many enjoying.

So, Ghostbusters, yay or nay?

Hah, well I didn't play it until the end. Don't know if it's ethical!

Plus lined up in the review pipe are Transformers then Call of Juarez with Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings probably swooping in as a double feature on one of them.

Ghostbusters: Yay!

I'm not the worlds biggest Ghostbusters fan but I watched the movie and some of the mini-series as a kid and loved playing the game. The first time I trapped a ghost I got an awesome rush and wanted to continue to do it over and over. What made the game really fun for me was the different ways you could trap ghosts, specifically the slime gun. You could tether a ghost to the trap and sling shot them in when they were just barely in the red! Tons of fun :)

It's not a long game. If you can't bring yourself to finish it, then you can't rightly review it in any reasonably-complete fashion. If a game is exorbitantly long, then it might be acceptable to put out a review based upon a 'comprehensive' but unfinished play session, but for a game as short as GB I don't think it would cut it.

This is not just an excuse to suppress your review because I think you're 90% wrong. :P

Im in the same boat as pwn. I didnt think is was going to be that good, but I read the reviews and got it for the PC(looks pretty good on a decent rig), and Im really enjoying it. The story isnt the greatest, but the voice acting and banter between the team is awesome. Plus the gameplay is fun because I feel like Im using a proton pack and thats just bad ass to me.

I especially like the humour, and the story is okay. I managed to finish the game, but haven't played much multiplayer yet, I imagine it could be a good laugh with mates. It's pretty linear and I can't quite gain the motivation to go through & search for some objects/ghosts I missed. I'd definitely recommend a rental on this one.

I am thinking of picking it up when the price drops. I love the series, but the game just didnt interest me. But after seeing the demo and listening to the sound effects coupled with chasing after the librarian, I think its a good buy. I dont care about the multi, so at 20 or 25 bucks it looks to be a solid title.

If you like Ghostbusters, it's a solid 1-2 day rental. (Shouldn't take the avg. gamer more than that to beat it).

I really enjoyed it.

Fun game, humorous dialogue, a little easy, and short.
