Kingdom Hearts 3 Not Even in the Works

In an interview with Ultimania (http://www.khinsider.com/days/ultimania-interview.html) (via Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5303476/tetsuya-nomura-on-kingdom-hearts-3)), creative director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tetsuya Nomura revealed that Kingdom Hearts 3 is not yet being worked upon.

According to Nomura, people have recently been asking him what he is planning for KH3. "KH3. Even though I'm currently busy with Final Fantasy versus XIII, I'm also thinking that it's almost time to start thinking about it seriously," he adds. "Though it's entirely possible that the next game in the series won't be KH3."

With the longer development times required for AAA products on HD consoles, can we even expect this to come out this generation?

For Squeenix, it handheld titles seem to be the priority regarding their AAA series (Dissidia, Before Crisis, KH 33 1/3 or whatever it's called...) makes sense seeing as there are far more PSP or DS owners than either PS3/360 owners.

Sometimes I miss the good old days when it was hardly expected that new RPG releases (despite being great games) were gonna push as many copies at retail as, say, the new sports title or new Zelda/Mario game. Perhaps new Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts installments wouldn't take 2+ years in between numbered releases if the genre hadn't become so mainstream around the world.

Handheld games are cheaper to make and people who like handhelds will buy them, so I understand why they make handheld games, but that doesn't preclude them from making a real sequel on HD consoles.

Squenix has this whole weird thing about console exclusivity. They'd do fine on HD consoles if they'd release on both systems like they are doing with FF XIII.

I wouldn't really mind. I have a PSP and it would be cheaper.

I had a PSP and a DS im not sure what happened to them. I suppose I sold them a while ago bt I dont remember. Too bad to causei could use em for PAX this year...
