Personally, I absolutely can't stand it.

They removed the ability to map the controller (at least in the PS3 version that I'm playing) so you have to use the right-stick for it's highly inaccurate punching. In the previous game, you could map jabs and hooks to the face buttons and put your combos together with it while using the analog stick only for winding up haymakers and blocking punches which felt really good.

Thank god I didn't actually spend money on the title. Whichever asshole decided to force players to use the "total control" stick for everything should be taken out and shot. Fight Night Round 3 was one of my favorite games (sans the ridiculous amount of advertising) and I was really looking forward to this title.

I think I read today that your wish will be granted by EA (for a small fee).

Yes, they're adding the ability to use buttons to control the game as DLC!

Isn't 'Next-Gen' great?

I like it quite a bit. They ruined the training mode in Legacy mode. I feel like I'm not doing anything in the training, and I always end up selecting "auto-train" which is a shame. I liked the rhythm game aspect to the training from FN3.

But other than that, I'm having a pretty good time with the game. I was a little concerned about lack of face buttons like the thread starter, but play it a bit more, you'll get used to it. It's actually pretty fun.

I'm enjoying it, but I agree that the total control sucks serious ass.

The game is great. I loved Fight Night Round 3, but Round 4 is way more realistic. The omission of the parrying system takes some getting used to, but the game is very rewarding once you get the mechanics down. I for one love the analog stick control and have always used it throughout the Fight Night franchise releases.

I'm loving FNR4.

I admit, to start with I didn't like the Total Punch control (I used to use the buttons in FNR3), but I gave it a chance, I've now got used to it and it is so much better than using buttons. If you dont like the Total punch control give it a chance, seriously, its good!!
