Rumors are swirling about that a version of Worms may make its way (http://www.gaming-360.com/?p=98) onto Live Arcade.
However, for one reason and another (to be honest, mainly our obligations with PSP/DS) the development didn’t happen (actually we were on the XBLA dev list around E3 time) but now that we’ve experienced just how awesome XB Live is on 360, we’ve resurrected the conversations. I wouldn’t expect it anytime shortly (and it won’t be a quick port of Armageddon etc) but it is on the agenda.
Cool. Thank god it's not going to be that 3D crap they call Worms now.
Thanks Morratut for the tip.

How about you just make it a quick port of Armageddon with Live extensions to play with 4 people, kthx.

I think enough time has passed for me to get back into worms. I used to love it, but played it to death when it first came out and swore I would never play it again (I think I actually gave away my old copy for the Saturn). If I could get a new version for about 400 points I'd be willing to give it another go and see how they've improved on it.
Failing that, Deathtank, please.

Wow, my roommate and I used to play this game for hours and hours on end. Sidescrolling Worms? Absolute MUST buy for Live! Arcaders.
PS: Anyone else wish there were more 2 to 4 player co-op games on Live?

More and more, I'm getting stoked for a 360, and a majority of the stoke-iness is coming from all the cool shit you can do with Xbox Live. I was an early adopter when Live first launched, and literally last week my subscription ran out. I didn't renew because Halo 2 alone isn't worth it, but if and when I get the 360, I'll be back on Live in a heartbeat.

Unless I mis-understand, the 360 comes with a Silver membership (which is free) and a free month of Gold, which I'm currently enjoying. I think the only thing you can't do with Silver is play games with others, but with Silver you can still pull down demos, arcade games, game updates, etc. For free! I may not renew my gold, just because I don't really play games that much, but I do enjoy the occasional PGR3 race online so I just might for that. Also, I'd be afraid to miss out on something "exclusive" to the Gold membership, like a demo or something?

Very cool news. I'm glad all these old school games are catching on to how cool Live Arcade can be.

So far the only Live Arcade game I've bought is geometry wars but I'd so buy this in a heartbeat.
I was about to make fun of Gamespy for having insecure software and the sheep that install their software. I'm so out of my element.

I would like a 2-4 player co op lost vikings.....but I know I would end up being paired with 3 16 year olds that talk about boobies and die while saying "watch this". I never played worms, I might have to chek it out.

I've only played Worms a few times and I enjoyed it lots. I'll be getting this.
I'd prefer Deathtank though :D

Joust... SmashTV... Street Fighter 2... Worms....
All I need now is a Live Arcade version of The Win95 game pack.... oh yeah Chip's Challenge

I really hope they just give a port of Worms 1. I liked it so much better than any of the sequels. It was tight, minimalistic fun. The way most Live Arcade games should be. I'd still be interested in Worms 2, but if it's any of those 3D ones, I'd pass.

me2... why don't they make more of this!? i keep saying that this is what's going to draw in the non-hardcore, but they'll need to know first-off that they can't do this without the premium package, i can see a lot of non-gamers going out and getting "one of those xbox things, so i can play worms" and then finding it doesn't work, taking it back, and never thinking about buying a console again.
and then *** will be all, like: "me crying! :'(", and they'll be, like: "i don't care anymore! i only wanted to play worms! it's nobody's fault, but i think i'm going to have to move out!!!11!one" -ahem- or something.

And here I thought I was the only guy looking for a 360, extra controllers and 0 games.
I too really hope it's modelled on the Worms 1 game .. Worms 2 and above somehow managed to make the gameplay crap by having huge cutesy cartoon-style worms and scenery-features that stopped you being able to move around much.
It would be cool if they've seen Worms: The Directors Cut too (the last version that appeared on the Amiga, programmed by the original author .. kind of a Worms 1.5.) That one had some neat scenery and enhanced weapons: Old Lady, Sheep on a Rope, Homing Pigeon .. Concrete Donkey FTW! :D

Actually...you don't need the premium. The live arcade titles are small enough to fit on a memory card. Of course...that's about all you'll fit on it.

Awesome news. Worms (the 2d versions) is my second favourite game of all time, next to Sam & Max.

Oh man. NOW I am jealous.
The Worms Armageddon is one of the best games ever made! My friends and I still play it every once in a while on PC.
I'll have to wait and see, but if it's an improved Armageddon or something along those lines I will be jealous of 360 owners. I just can't spend that much on a console just for Worms though, lol.
MS has just sold another console!
I really doubt I'll be buying a lot of games though...

And to think, I was just remarking to myself how great a 2D Worms (or SCORCHED EARTH) game would be on Live.
Now if I can only find a 360 in stock...

ah, clever. still think they're missing that marketing oportunity of the casual gamers, which is becoming a big market, these days. ah, well.
