It's a comic. It's a MMORPG. It's a Sci-fi MMORPG with the look of a comic book.

It's called Seed (http://www.seedthegame.com) and sign-ups (http://www.seedthegame.com/news.php?page=69) are now open for its Feb. 1st beta test. The main site is very comprehensive but for press purposes the developer site has a quick overview (http://www.runestone.dk/index.php?page=2) of exactly what Seed is.

Sounds interesting to me. We need all the sci-fi mmos we can muster.

Signing up as we speak... I've been waiting for this game for a while now.

Signed. Looks interesting, and my guild is always on the lookout for a new MMO (and sci-fi especially after the FUBAR of SWG).

Signed with fingers crossed.
I have to this day NEVER been accepted for a Beta testing period. Applied for a tonne too. Maybe they hate us Aussies...

Just be careful if you sign up, get accepted, and then break the NDA. Spilling the seed is a terrible sin.

It certainly sounds like an interesting concept. They are setting out to be a niche title from what I cant tell -- in one of the FAQs they mention having a target goal of 30,000 subscribers. That seems realistic to me, as the game won't appeal to a lot of people. Having no combat is a pretty huge departure from the MMO norm...

Looks really cool. I'm tired of the generic-fantasy setting that so many MMOs adopt, and I'm hoping that this one breaks the mold. Just looking at how they are styling the art after comic books makes me excited! I'm one of those few bastards who looks at celshaded games and swoons...

Wow. No combat? I'm really interested in seeing how this one turns out then.

Lonely Rabbit, you must either be very unlucky or they screen out anyone to far from their servers to prevent their beta reports and forums being flooded with people that live on the opposite side of the planet complaining about the lag.

I live in the UK and the only betas I can think of that I have signed up for and not got in for is 'City of Heroes' and 'Dark and Light'.

Inmostlight, very good.

Oh god, I remember this. This game is made by a bunch of euro programers who have NEVER worked on a video game before or in the game industry.

Yes, interesting.

There is no NDA on this beta. They said so on the beta sign-up page.

EXACTLY! This is SO what I've been looking for. An MMO without combat... I mean that sounds great. I'm pretty sick of slaying all the different colored mobs in WOW that look the same. And yes, I've heard of Tale in the Desert. Didn't like the sound of it... this seems very interesting.

Yes, interesting.

Which makes it even more attractive.

oooo. shiny. must go sign up for seed now. i prefer sci-fi over fantasy any day, this is cool-looking.

i didn't realize it had no combat though, that should make things interesting. probably won't get into the beta though, i never do. does anyone know what the subscription cost might look like?
