It's inevitable now that any big budget action film will get a mediocre video game tie-in, but how does X-Men Origins: Wolverine fare? Since its release, the game has earned a reputation for over-the-top brutal action, but it is marred by technical issues and low difficulty. It received a 77% average at GameRankings, which is fairly respectable for a movie-based game. So what did you think of it?

I chose good. Outside of Butcher Bay (and now Ghostbusters); it was one of the few well done movie/action game where you felt like Wolverine. It was superior to the movie, and while it did get repetitive and it was a bit long; it was well worth playing. I'd buy the sequel Raven Software! :D

I chose great. The game has terrific pacing and never dips all the way in to tedium or becomes overwhelming.

It is fairly easy on the Normal difficulty, but replaying it on Hard allows you to get everything leveled up and presents more of a tactical challenge. This also increases gameplay from 10-12 hours into 20-24ish, which seems right on point for an action game.

On Xbox360, the Achievements are also well ranged from easy to requiring some skill but nothing ridiculous. This game also has some of the least annoying "collectible" searches I've ever encountered.

good combat engine, but it got overly long in the tooth, had uninspired level design and the story was just blah, even worse than the movie's.

It was alright. The first level or two were fun, but then the combat just got really stale for me, and that was the only thing that had me playing to begin with.

I agree, i was playing it for the third day on a rental.... and just kept wondering when it was going to end! but over all the combat was real satisfying.

I thought it was great, it got the Wolverine feeling, much more then the harmless movie. It is button smashing, but never gets old. One of the few games I finished and replayed on 'hard' to the get all the achievements. I had a blast playing!

I had fun with this game. And then it got repetitive with game play turning into...oh these combos or moves don't work on these guys etc. or this big guy has this pattern. Arcade style to be sure and let's be honest, MUCH BETTER THAN THE MOVIE.

It's a 7 for sure because being wolverine in spaced out gaming sessions is enjoyable in this game for sure but this isn't something I would play in just one sitting or two.

The results are in! (http://www.mauriciovives.com/popop) Thanks for your votes and comments.

This is one of the cases where the popular opinion is quite a bit better than the critical reception. I may have to pick this one up...
