Valve's weekly update includes a gorgeous shot of Counter-Strike: Source's next map, a port of my old favorite cs_militia. Feast your eyes below.

The funny thing is that the people that I play with at a cyber cafe where I go to do not play CS:source. We play CS:CZ.

I still find that amongst all the different versions, 1.6 is still the best.

Sourse is superior. And I never knew anyone even played CZ anymore...

I didnt play much of CS till Source so Im not familiar with the old maps but its looking good.

I loved Militia so I'm not sure about the significant changes. As it will no longer be the Militia I grew to love.

Yup, the map-maker said that this will get a very new make-over/redesign and wont be just a graphical update of the original map.

Well at least they've taken steps to reduce the crate and barrel syndrome. Those pretty rocks used to be piles of crates in the old map.

1.6 over source??

Ugh man, that's just whacky. The only reason you shoulnd't be playing source is that your rig isn't good enough to run it properly.

Hahaha I remember that.
Man the apc was sure fun to play with, but I can understand why it was taken out, given that almost every person that got into it when I played seemed to find it hilarious to drive it off the cliff and jam the elevator in the tunnel with it.

Backalley is the best official map ever though, btw.

oh man, i cannot wait to play this map, run out of that tunnel into the beautiful landscape, watch the screen flare as the hdr kicks in... and get capped in the head with an awp.

This map looks sweet. I hope they bring back Seige, Chinatown and Backalley next.

Excuse me? In case you haven't noticed, the 1.6 community is still massive. And there's a reason. In 1.6, hitboxes don't stray up to four feet from the player model. How many times have you made shots that didn't seem to register? How many times have you seen someone someone seemingly cheat death in source? Even a graphics wh0re like yourself has to admit it. Alot.

Yes, this can be rectified via the server console. However, it requires you to go out of your way to make things reasonable.Think I'm kidding? Watch this.

I'm amazed how little recognition this receives from people like you. Last time I checked, the only reason you shouldn't be playing 1.6 is if you're more interested in textures and FX than reasonable gameplay. It's not like source is a particularly needy game when it comes to resources.

The screen looks great, but they need to work on the frame rate issues that many people are experiencing with the Source engine. I just upgraded my system and before, I didn't have any issues at all. Now, the game actually runs slower than my 3 year old system did in some instances. This is a problem I don't experience in any other game I own.

Well, Karma sounds like something's wrong with the new Rig. I wouldn't blame Valve because your new system is worse than your 3 year old one.

Holyshit, the time people did that, made me laugh to tears. Especially how gimpy the animations we're back in those builds.

All you would have to do is go to the Steam forums to know that hitbox thing was already explained. And its nothing at all how people percieved it. People love to run with that hitbox idea against Source. Ive been playing CS for years (way before 1.6) my hits register and I never see anything or feel somethings "off" I just think people get so close-minded they shun off anything new. After playing this new CS, I can't go back. Its such a different and better game with the physics engine and hit detection, I love it.

Source is crap! Any CS after 1.5 is crap. Crap! I mean CS:S is still a beta in my mind. One model per team? Whats that shit?

wow which uncredited video to believe???!!!

Anyway it looks like CPL still uses 1.6, so I guess those guys at least figure 1.6 is the better competetive game.

saran_js

Well with 1.6 you have to be able to aim and shoot properly. With CS:CZ and CS:Source, all you have to do is spray and the most likelyhood is that you'll get a headshot.

Also, the AK in CS:CZ is shit. 1.6's AK is da best, and CS:Source's AK is shitier than CS:CZ's.
Furthermore, the models in CS:Source are a bit too cartoonish. I still prefer the older version models and animations.

Well, Karma sounds like something's wrong with the new Rig. I wouldn't blame Valve because your new system is worse than your 3 year old one. Thanks, but as I said, these are problems many users are facing and are issues that I'm not having with any other games or programs which I run. 3DMark scores are much higher and other system benchmarks confirm that my setup is configured properly.

And please do not view this as a knock on Valve in general; I'm a big fan, but as with any software developer, Valve has bugs and other issues in its programs which must be resolved.
