Wow, times are changing! Those seem like pretty high specs to me.
Good thing my Dragon setup can handle it perfectly.

My current machine is the Recommended Specs ... guess that means it won't be long before I'll have to upgrade again :(

My bottleneck these days is my CPU, which is only a single-core 3.0 ghz P4. Otherwise, I'm well in excess of the other minimum and recommended requirements. I'm planning for an entirely new rig which I hope to put together in Q1 2010.

20 gigs!!!! Yea that still seems like ALOT considering windows 7 needs about that much and it runs your entire PC. It isn't really an issue with 1tb hds being cheaper than dirt these days but still 20gigs WTF!

From what I have heard, the amount of streaming VO in the game requires a hard drive, and there is a LOT of VO. I wonder if the console versions will require a hard drive. I kinda wish they would if it would increase the quality of the console version, although this is totally a PC version buy for me.

You have over 4 gigs of ram on a single core pentium 4?
You do realize that a $50 processor upgrade to a cheap core 2 duo will be roughly 4x the processor performance, right?

My computer easily surpasses these specs, but i'd be kinda worried if it didn't...

This game is one of the main reasons why I bought the new PC. Nice to see that the purchase was justified. Sorry, but everyone who recommended a Core2Duo E8400 to me was way off. It's Quad-core computing in the future, your old E8400 CPU is old.

After spending $100 to add another 2gb of ram and a 9800GT, I'm pretty much exactly at the recommended specs.

No, I'm running XP with 3 GB of memory. Yes, I realize what a $50 processor upgrade could do and I'm considering it, but it's not a big priority, especially when I'm looking at building an entirely new PC by, at the latest, Q1 2010.

I'm sure it'd cost more than $50, considering he'd need a new motherboard as his socket is probably out of date, which would lead to new memory as well. There are a lot of things to consider when upgrading, but I'm sure you knew that.

Surprisingly, most pentium 4s can still be upgraded into the lower end C2D's Socket 775 has been around forever and a BIOS update is usually all it takes. The upside of the P4's having such outrageously high clock speed and outrageous power requirents is that the DDR2 memory used to power the pentium 4 is also usually enough to satisfy a C2D, same for the PSU.

^$80 is about what you would want to spend, that processor says "pentium", but its actually a C2D in disguise.

There's some truth to that, depending on how you look at it. I CAN get a handful of dual-core processors - my socket is an LGA 775. However, I can only upgrade so far on my mother board, hence my hesitance to commit any money to upgrades when I've got a portion of my savings set aside for a new rig.

Yes, I understand you could upgrade if your lucky enough to own a P4 in a LGA775 socket. My mistake was thinking of my last PC build, in which I ugpraded from a P4 3.0 Northwood, socket 478!
When you said P4 single-core, I thought really old-school, like me!

As far as this game goes, I can't wait to play it! I love Bioware and they've yet to let me down, EVER! They might be, in my eyes, the most consistent developer out there.

I think the closest to them letting me down was Jade Empire. I liked the game but it wasn't on the level of BG/BG2, NWN, KOTOR, or Mass Effect. Of all their series, I've liked NWN and Mass Effect the best.

I've actually steered clear of Jade Empire, never had a desire to play it. Maybe it would've let me down, if I was ever looking forward to it:)

doesn't seem that high to me...seems actually surprisingly tame compared to the other 'big list of recommendations' that games usually have like, let's say, doom 3 when it came out and soon their next game which i'm sure will make many groan. ;P

I the "majority" of my current system in 2006, and it wasn't long after that I had wished I had spent the extra money to get a dual-core setup - by 2007 it was obvious that I'd need it. :D

Both my PC and my wife's are Socket 939. I WAY overpaid for an X2 on Ebay to get us up to dual-core. Ram is even expensive. It's weird - old tech is cheap, but kinda old tech is expensive as hell. But still cheaper than building a new system, but that was the last round up upgrades for me.

But if you look at everything now, you can get a mid range and especially something that meets these specs for ridiculously low costs.
Finally! Someone put out realistic system requirements. Tired of seeing things like P4 with a DX9.0 compliant card only to have it run like a slide show.
Looks like the new my i7 upgrade will finally have a game to beat it up. Can't wait for this game.

Ummmm... my machine could basically play two of those at once. Lol! Not really, but I do blow those specs outta the water. I upgrade my machine all the time though.

These minimum specs are not bad at all for a game coming out now. They are by far lower than the min specs for The Sims 3.
