Gaming Horizon (http://news.gaminghorizon.com/) has posted (http://news.gaminghorizon.com/media2/1137118800.3157.html) new screenshots of Sega's upcoming racing game that includes elements reminiscent of the pen and paper/computer game Car Wars/Autoduel. I'll hold my tongue until I play the demo.

I know what you mean Everlost. The graphics remind me of really old games which used to be digitized. I can't put my finger on it.

I have to admit though i'm confused as to how the game is gonna play. Is it racing or a twisted metal clone? If it's racing then someone will probably just blow the shit out you before you get 10 yards off the starting line

If its a Twisted Metal type of game I don't mind running around a big arena destroying things and wiping out other players :D

If its fun though i'll buy it.

I've played the demo that came with the latest copy of OXM. It had some framerate issues but it was incredibly fun. It's a race but you have weapons and almost everything is destructible. Want to take a shortcut? Then go and crash through a corner store. If your enemy is ahead of you then you can boost to possibly catch up, shoot him, or even more fun shoot something in the environment to crash into him. The alternate vechicle in the demo has a rear weapon so you're not screwed if you're ahead.

I'd be worried about weapon balance on vehicles. Inevitably, there will probably be a single vehicle that everyone uses online.

Could this finally be the DeathTrack replacement I've yearned for since the EGA days?

what he said :) the game is a blast, and visually it is stunning, the screenshots look rather dull, while in game they are much better, I just hope the frame rate issues are sorted.

I've played the demo that came on the OXM disc, too and once you get used to it (after a couple of laps), it's really good and has a surprising amount of depth for a combat-racer.

I'll be picking this up, unless I'm too busy with Fight Night 3. ;)
