To promote the release of Red Faction Guerrilla THQ put 100 copies of the game into a car on the streets of London with a sledgehammer attached to it. Source Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5287048/red-faction-guerrillas-smashing-london-promotion)

Because Red Faction Guerrilla features the world's most realistic destruction engine, we thought that it would make for an interesting experiment to find out how many people, going about their everyday business, would stop in a busy city street to work out some stress by smashing their way into a car to earn a copy of the brand new game.

Just walk up and smash a car to get a free game? Count me in.

wonder which part of London this was in...considering there's a tube strike at the moment, people were probably more excited about the chance to hit something with a sledgehammer than they were about the game...

"Tube" strike? Do you mean TV workers are on strike?

Seriously, why wouldn't the first guy smash a window, and everyone else just grab one (or several) through the window as they walked by?

Maybe the copies are in the trunk.

I'm waiting to hear about someone getting arrested for vandalism or litter. That glass will end up in the street after all!

To be honest if someone gave me a sledgehammer and a car I'd be willing to give it a few hits game or no game. That just sounds like fun.
