IGN (http://www.ign.com) is reporting 2 XBox 360 titles being delayed that were supposed to be released at the end of the month.
Top Spin 2 (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/680/680808p1.html) comes first being bumped from the end of January to the beginning of April.
Lost Odyssey (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/680/680865p1.html) is next being bumped from the end of the month till "When it's done" status.
Ouch. Microsoft could really use an RPG; first Oblivion, now the JRPG Lost Odyssey.

Top Spin... meh.
Anyone that actually thought Lost Odyssey was coming out this month is an idiot. Blue Dragon will be the first Sakaguchi title to release. That has been repeated by he and MS ad nauseum. So that "delay" isn't a delay at all unless you put your stock in fictitious Gamestop.com release lists.

So are there any more games coming out in Jan? What are other games folks are excited about? I'm pretty jazzed about Fight Night Round 3, actually. I never thought I'd get into a boxing game, but wow is this demo fun! That is supposed to come out in Feb, I believe.
I've already beaten my Christmas titles except Condemned (Call of Duty 2, Kameo, PGR3, PD0, Dead or Alive 4) which I'm playing this weekend on my 4 day vacation, so I'll have that wrapped up pretty soon too. I have lots of achievements I missed in all my games, and I loved each one enough to go back and play some more, especially DOA4 and PGR3 which you can never really "finish" per se.
Still, come the end of January, I'm going to be looking for a new title... Oh yeah, I have a PC too, I almost forgot. When is HoMMV coming out again? I was in the beta but stopped playing it, preferring to wait for the full (more polished version). What I did play in the beta was great, however!

I agree -- the 360 needs an RPG.
I'm excited about Blue Dragon, though I hate the whole always pissed-off, cross-eyed midget DBZ look. Lost Odyssey is more my style from an art point of view.
Of course, Oblivion isn't THAT far off... But I plan to get that for my PC.

Ach! TS2 was on my buy list as well. Back to NBA 2K6 then, I guess.

If the xbox360 ever has a (relatively) decent library of j-rpgs it just may be worth buying then...
In the end, it worked out to be around 50 short stories worth of content, which, of course, is quite a bit. We'll have more information on this anticipated title's release as soon as can.
That's a lot of content!

The same list you and others use to show off the steady stream of xbox360 releases? A few more delays and the "steady stream" of releases will compare to the “puttering like a bad muffler” early release schedule of the PS2.

I hate unc because I used to live in chapel hill, I will never live near another college town. Duke has the most consistent team over the past 10 or so years, so they are ok. I pull for state sometimes because they are the underdog. But the best games are the duke unc games, always great to watch. When I play the game I will play as the devils because of jj, the man can shoot it. We should get online when you get it so you can see my totally tubular moves (which means you can dunk on me while I run around like a chicken with its head cut off).

I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, chief, because I've never posted a retail release list here.
In any event, there are more than enough great titles already out to carry through March. Especially given the supply problems. New releases in the interim will please fans, but do nothing to increase the user base, which is being held back by supply. Then you've got plenty of good titles which developers have confirmed dates for like Splinter Cell 4, Ghost Recon, Fight Night, Oblivion, etc... And if there are more delays, well that's just more great holiday titles to go up against the PS3's inevitably pathetic launch lineup.

fine its on, take roy williams and his team of 15 scrubs because they all got greedy and left. I will foul out all of my players except jj and still win. He will pass to himself and shoot a fade away three pointer left handed from half court and it will go in off of the glass. I do like Roy, but the team last year was a bunch of cocky arrogant players (I had to deal with them every week at work) with some of their parents being just as bad. Some guys were cool but most of the stars were dicks. We will play though, so you better bring it like its never been brung.

Well. . . Kameo is action/adventure and is not an FPS in disguise by any means.
Also, the January release date for Lost Oddysey was just bull crap. It's a J-RPG and hasn't even released in Japan yet. I'd be surprised if we see it before the holidays (if that soon).

You didn't say "must-have" games, you said "solid" games. There are lots of solid, excellent, "bang-for-your-buck" type titles already on the system, covering every genre except RPG. I would have *preferred* Oblivion to be done and ready for launch, who wouldn't, but to say there are no solid games just shows how pick you are with what you consider worth your time and effort. Which is not my problem, so I'm not blasting you for having such an opinion, but let's be fair here.

Shhhhh, you're going to crack his fanboy goggles. He can't be bothered to play quality action adventure games like Condemned because it's just "a FPS in disguise". You can bet that the same logic will be applied to Oblivion.

Okay, I guess the distinction is worth mentioning. But it's gonna take "must-have" games to get me to buy a 360. And I don't see any.
As for Kameo, it may be action/adventure but it appears to be cutesy and brightly colored to the point that I don't want to throw money at it.

*sigh* Kameo is awesome. Very little that's 'cutesy' about it. You can turn into a fire-breathing dragon and roast a troll so that he runs away screaming while on fire. Just ask HIM how 'cutesy' the game is.
Consistent artistic vision + fun gameplay = kick-ass game.

Yeah, Microsoft's lack of RPG skillz is basically the reason I kept away from the original Xbox. I have hopes that things will be brighter in that arena, as well as the platforming/adventure-RPG genre for the 360... but I guess time will tell.

You called it bapenguin. I often find Nintendo's games to be too cute to enjoy. I haven't met a Zelda game that I enjoyed. I prefer action-oriented games with some teeth, so the troll-on-fire things does intrigue me. My impressions of Kameo are gut-level reactions to the website and comercials I've seen. As soon as I see this running on a 360 kiosk I will try to get hands-on time with it or at least watch someone play it.
My point in my first post on this thread wasn't that 360=bad. It's that at this point I don't see any solid (to the point of being "must-have") software for this fledgeling console. I hope that changes. Until then still I've got tons of un-played current-gen games to check out on PC, Xbox, and PS2.

Of course they are gonna give you 50 titles at launch. How else are they gonna make people really have to go get their system? Remember all the "Only on XBox" titles for the XBox 1? ...That are now on all systems?

I hear your pain, but that's the way exclusivity works in this industry. The last two GTA games were only exclusive to PS2 for a year or so. Take Two isn't dumb enough to give any console a life-long exclusive for their games. That would be bad business.

It's just smart money to bring things out on as many platforms as possible, and I knew the moment I fired it up that Condemned was using the FEAR engine. So doing a PC port was only a matter of time.
But still, even being someone who poo-poo'd the hell out of the 360 launch lineup, I have been really satisfied with all the games I have bought. DoA4 is stunning, and a blast to play, Condemned is FANTASTIC for a horror afficianado like myself, and CoD2 is just awesome--except for the freaking one shot kill trench shotty in multi. Damn you! The only one I have been a bit disappointed in is PD0. It's not especially bad or anything. I actually like it. I just don't like it as much as I thought I would. Graphics are nice, it plays ok, but overall kinda disappointing. But, it's early in the game.
As for Elder Scrolls, I didn't care for Morrowind at all, on PC or XB. But the new quest/mapping systems sound right up my alley (I don't like just wandering around most of the time) and the graphics look amazing. I will likely need to pick that one up.
I was a huge fan of the original Top Spin, so I might get that one too. But, I loathe JRPGs, so that Lost Odyssey can just stay in Japan as far as I am concerned.

Lost Odyssey is not delayed. It never had a release date.
For some reason ebgames.com put it early in 2006, but that's rediculous. It's the second Mistwalker RPG behind Blue Dragon, and is so far out they haven't even shown anything other than concept art. It has always been a "maybe in 2007" type release, and that hasnt' changed at all.

If slightly cutesy scares you off even when it has good gameplay than you need to grow up a bit. You can still be adult and enjoy things that aren't "adult oriented." Don't worry, it won't make you less cool just as playing all those dark and scary titles doesn't make you more cool.
Kameo is a blast, I've really enjoyed it. MOST Nintendo games look kind of kiddy and yet they're awesome. If you missed out on Mario 64 or Zelda because they're "kiddy" then I really feel bad for you as a gamer.

Damn you for mentioning that piece of crap game. Let's just forget it existed and hope Sonic on the 360/PS3 is good.
My main prob with the 360 is the £49.95 price tag on games in the UK (Thats $US87.85). I went in to Game to get a new game last weekend, and ended up getting F.E.A.R. and Fable for PC instead for £20 each. It's a freaking ridiculous price tag. I can get CoD2 for £24 on the PC, or for £49.95 on the 360... I want to get more games for my 360 but its damn hard to convince myself to pay twice as much for them, especially as i have a 7800GTX in my PC.

Fight Night 3 (from what I've played of the demo) looks like it will be a great title that comes out very soon, Oblivion will be great and I bet Ghost Recon will be too. I'd say that's three "great" games right there, but of course, that's just my opinion. And a lot of industry reviewers, apparently.
Oh, and nobody talks about PDZ because it sucks. Luckily there are more than enough other great games for people to just not care.

Luckily there isn't anything that makes your bullshit opinion a fact...
Gamerankings.com:
1. Call of Duty 2 90.5%
2. Dead or Alive 4 90.4%
3. Project Gotham Racing 3 88.5%
I'd say that's three "great" games right there, but of course, that's just my opinion. And a lot of industry reviewers, apparently.
I don't see how the rating of a game itself, let alone it's aggregate review score, defines whether it is "great" or not. "Great" is another category unto itself. It's the top of the mountain. Combining review scores to determine tangibly how good a game is can be--and often is--flawed because not every reviewer abides by the same rubrick when applying a score. That there isn't even any sort of school of theory about what makes a game good or bad makes how each reviewer approaches a game very varied. All that list tells me is that all internet reviewers--that gamerankings cares about, anyway--likes Call of Duty 2 90.5% of of a possible liking of 100%. When Gamespot, for example, reviews games, they often rate games against those on that games console, rather than across all games of that particular generation, which used to (and perhaps still does) rankle MS fanboys because multiplatform titles sometimes get almost as good, if not better scores, on the PS2 despite being of lesser graphical quality.
Dead or Alive is not a launch title, no matter what the Microsoft spin on it is. If it's not out at least within 3 weeks of the launch of the system (being kind), you can't call it a launch title. I'd also disagree that it's a "great" game, but that discussion is for another thread.

Call of Duty 2 is a great title. Dead or Alive 4 is a great title. Project Gotham 3 is a great title. Condemned is a great title. Fight Night 3 (from what I've played of the demo) looks like it will be a great title that comes out very soon, Oblivion will be great and I bet Ghost Recon will be too. Perfect Dark, I'll give you, is merely decent although very good online. None of these may float YOUR boat, but my boat is floating along merrily.
Launch. Title.
I have little doubt right now that Oblivion will be very good. Objectivity can be murky, I know, but you don't know nearly enough about my gaming tastes to tell me what floats my boat. Further, the whole point was: 1)The assumption that the PS3 simply will not have good launch titles is absurd, and 2)The launch of the 360 was by no means great in terms of it's software lineup. Anectodtaly, while you may have enjoyed it, I know plenty of people that rushed out to get a 360 that were able to admit that the titles weren't terribly intriguing. They got it when they did more because they knew the better titles would come down the road, such as Oblivion.
Again, I wonder why 360 owners at Evil Avatar speak more about the Live! Arcade games and games down the road, such as Gears of War and Oblivion, than they do about the GREAT launch titles?

You really should change your name to Bill O'Reilly, because you are an even bigger spin doctor than that douchebag.
Sounds like you don't even own a 360 - In which case I'd just say to just shut the fuck up because you really don't know what you're talking about. Kinda hard to judge the greatness of a bunch of games that you haven't even played, chief.

This coming from a person that doesn't own a PS3. Huh.

Funny I don't recall listing any PS3 games.

I know! Isn't that crazy? And yet you already know they'll be bad. You have some talent for bullshit there.
