Today Ubisoft announced that its Montreal Studio is developing two new titles in the Far Cry universe. Far Cry Instincts Next Chapter for the Xbox, and Far Cry Instincts Predator for Xbox 360, which will include the original, but optimized, FCI product as well as the new Far Cry Instincts Next Chapter.
Check out FCI Predator/Next Chapter details and screens (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=31022) over at WorthPlaying.

Hooray for stupidly long titles that make no sense. A far cry from a predator of instincts? WTF?

Please tell me those aren't actual 360 screenshots... if so, bleh.

It seems they didn't make Far Cry Instincts with the intention of porting it to the 360. Otherwise they probably would have had higher detail models and textures. It's too bad this game didn't get the Burnout treatment.

I am in the middle of writing up an EA review of Instincts. I'm about a month behind. Why? Because I'm still playing the game and making maps. Simply amazing.

It's got my GOTY for Xbox. I'm glad to hear more of it's on the way. The wife will be thrilled.

At least it's not Tom Clancy's Far Cry.

Personally, I want games build from the ground up for the next generation, not exisiting games ported over with some improvements. And why the heck does it say Far Cry Instincts...err "Next Chapter" is being developed for the Xbox and not the 360? The original game came out only 2 1/2 months ago, long after the announcement of the 360. Looks like milking of existing technology until the "true" Far Cry sequel/engine comes out that's goind to be optimized for high-end PCs and the 360. Might as well skip this cash-in.

Well... because for the sake of pedantry it's not "Next Chapter" which is being developed for the 360, but "Predator", irregardless of the fact that "Predator" includes all the "Next Chapter" content anyway.

Still ticks me off that all the Xbox 360 content is basically Xbox content revamped for the 360.

I know it's a faux pas to point out, but irregardless is not a word.
As to the content, not everybody played Far Cry: Instincts. The people that didn't and who have the 360, or people who really care about getting some graphical tweaks, will buy it. A sequel will surely be forthcoming, so you'll get your new content eventually, but right now it's more economical to make content for the previous generation and then port it over to the newer machines with some tweaks. The games will catch up to the hardware, but not for another 6-12 months.

Wow lots of pedantry indeed. And a blowgun? wtf? That seems like an odd thing to show off in some screens.

This is the next generation, now companies are too lazy to even make sequels, just remake the same game over and over.

I've never played the original far cry or instincts. I'll likely pick this one up. Just an FYI because I'm sure you were all wondering.

Seriously. I usually am up to hear what people have to say, but if you have never played Far Cry Instincts and are bitching, shut the fuck up. It was an awesome game, and no, not everybody is going to like it, but those who did enjoy it, myself included will be looking foward to the release of the sequel/expansion.

I know it's a faux pas to point out, but irregardless is not a word.
It is in a way. It uses a known and accepted word as a base and conjugates it appropriately. It's also a commonly used word, despite being incredibly redundant. Usage makes the ultimate decision. As far as valid words go, I would rank it right up there with "dumbassery," which is basically what this post is.
On topic: 360 will have ports of Xbox games and shoddy remakes for a while, just like PS2 did at the start of its cycle. You can't really complain about it when that's just the nature of the industry.

I hadn't bought a Xbox game for over year and a half but Far Cry Instincts made me break down and do it. That game is amazing on the old xbox.. it almost looks like a 360 game.

I'm playing Far Cry: Instincs right now and its really good and all, but NOTHING like Far Cry on the PC. I think it should have been called Far Cry: Halo Edition myself.

why dont they just port the orignal far cry to the 360 instead of this shit?

Actually, if you read the story, it says that Far Cry Predator will include the Next Chapter content. So you're getting both games on the 360.

I just rented this game and its AMAZING. This ranks up there with Riddick in terms of graphix and gameplay. Though i would've loved Co-op this game really is great. And for those who bitch about the 360 being a "port", just shut up. If u dont like it, dont buy it, simple, huh?

Way to split your market, Ubisoft. If there isn't an immediate patch to allow 360 users to play the X-box version, they may have a few angry customers. Then again, that game could suck and then no one would care.
Edit: whoops, nevermind. If all of it is on the 360 version, it doesn't split the market so much as make the X-box version a waste of money.

Honestly, as long as I get a continuation of the Far Cry: Instincts storyline, I'm alright.
I don't give a shit if it's updated for new technology or not. Instincts was just plain fun to play, and if I can get more of the same I will.
I'm one of the crowd (that is now fairly large, I think) that had way more fun playing Instincts than I ever did with the PC version of Far Cry because it didn't go all retarded halfway through. In fact, the farther you get into Instincts the more fun the game gets. The feral powers themselves are so well done and so much fun to use I don't see any reason to ever install the original Far Cry on my PC again.

Hear, hear. I picked it up on a whim two weeks ago, and seriously its one of the best multiplayer FPS I have played on Xbox, and not just because of the Map Maker. Another thing is that the player base seems to be much chiller than the Halo 2 or SC: Chaos Theory player base. The single player game is fairly weak, but its still fun because of the ridiculous variation of play styles. You can stealth your way through; you can play "Jim of the Jungle" placing traps and mines everywhere; you can go through with guns blazing. The feral abilities are very unique too. The idea that you can just rage around and attack mercenaries in such rapid succession is one of the coolest rushes in a video game I have seen in a while. The only weirdness about the game is the ridiculous use of normal mapping on the main player model and some of the uglier character models. They're all gnarly and shiny. So far as where normal mapping is concerned, Riddick (which might have been one of the first, if not the first use of normal mapping in a game), is still the best implementation I have seen on Xbox. Halo 2 couldn't do normal mapping in one pass for some reason, the Deus Ex 2/Thief 3 engine was really choppy, and you can tell that the Far Cry developers spent more time on shader technologies than character models. Anyhow...get this game.

Anyone here an avid Far Cry multiplayer??
I've spent the last few years playing it online for the PC and just can't get enough of the Assault mode.
Few games since Quake 1 and 3 have kept me this enthralled with it's online play.

Really? I didn't like the mulit in that game. That and for some reason it says my CD-Key is in use all the time.

PC FarCry was amazing. Greatest fps along with HL2 in 2004.
After seeing those pics of the 360 version, the $700 price tag of the PS3 seems like a bargain, relative the expensive 360.

You do realise that there are launch titles that DO infact look better then that for the 360.
