Probably one of the... stranger... announcements at E3, Nintendo's Satoru Iwata unveiled the Wii Vitality Sensor. It is a device that clips onto your finger and measures your pulse. Iwata claims that while most games are designed to excite you, there may be a time in the future that games are created to help relax or put you to sleep. No games were announced that utilize this gadget, but the possibilities are clearly... endless!...?

This could potentially be used in some very clever ways, but I see it only being used as some sort of Wii Fit/Brain Training type of game.
But think of using this in a survival horror where you literally have to try and calm yourself down to help navigate your character through a certain section of the game or something. Something like that could be ingenious, but I assume we would see little to no implementations of that sort.

I started to think along these lines. But why stop there? What if the game could throw different things at your and learn what enemies or challenges raised your heartbeat and then make sure it send more of those same enemies your way next time.
BTW, your comment instantly made me think of Eternal Darkness:Vitality.

The Wii library already does a good enough job of that.

This right here is why I don't own a Wii.

Somebody in the Nintendo R&D Department obviously missed the memo that the company was trying to avoid products that reinforces the Wii's "useless gimmick" image.

I remember Nintendo used to make love testers, I suppose this is the latest for the 21st century. I am not sure whether they still popular in japan.
