The upcoming Guild Wars: Factions is planned to hit stores in the second quarter of 2006 (last I heard was March), but January 20th-22nd is the sneak peek event.

The event will enable players to experience two new professions being introduced in the campaign, the Assassin and the Ritualist. Participants will also be able to try out a number of the skills added to Guild Wars: Factions, including some of the deadly skills of the Assassin and the arcane spells of the spiritual Ritualist. They will also be able to get familiar with the new PvP continent, Battle Isles. Battle Isles will introduce players to new PvP experiences, new and expanded arenas, new quests, and a new explorable area as well.
Sign up for your special key on January 13th at www.guildwars.com

Me, being an avid Guild Wars player, can't wait for this. Ritualists? Assassins? Playable? Sweet.

I haven't played GW since the month it was released, but I'm gonna log into this event to try out the new classes. Assassin sounds fun :)

I don't care what a Ritualist does, but it sounds cool enough for me. Signing up! See you there, Eyes

But, what about the level cap? Why keep going with the storyline, as the only rewards would be the story itself.

Because sadly that's just the way GW works, and the fans generally don't care. It's not perfect, but it's still fun. Saved mainly by the lack of a fee.

I just pretend that my level is actually the amount of skills I've unlocked. Thus I'm level 237.

I don't care, and it is fun. I don't have to get my rocks off bragging about elite weapons and reaching high levels. I play for the fun of it.

It's all about how you can use (one of the better balanced systems, IMO) to your advantage. We've seen some pretty ingenious play.

I forgot to mention I'm also level 237 in my real life.

Haven't played since i got WoW, unfortunatly im one of thos people that cares about "Epixxx" and gear. Once i got a full fissure set and my black widow pet (plus completing the story) i just got bored, but this may get me to take another look at it.

Anyone know if we can train secondry in the new professions?

GW hasn't grabbed me like other games have in the past, but the free online play makes it easy enough to check it out in between the other games I'm playing. Plus I still get a kick out of being able to download the client from anywhere and just play without having to worry about keeping up with discs, key codes, etc.

*shrug* still no UAS, still a fuck load of grind to unlock other items. PvE was fun in short bursts but after running or two characters through it you're left with PvP which is usually one sided thanks to overpowered skills that out class other skills.

When they release an expansion or patch that allows for 100% unlocked PvP charaters that can use everything avaible in the game, then I'll care about it.

Let me break this down:

#1: PvP having overpowered skills: Not true at all. IWAY seems to be the big thing nowadays. It is easily destroyed by ranger spikes, healing balls, and good trap groups to name a few. If someone figures out a good build, soon someone else will figure out a counter to it. If a build gets too powerful, Anet will nerf it. See Air Spike and smite teams for an example.

#2: Grind? I could be mistaken, but as far as I know the lack of a grind is one of this games attractions. A level 20 cap as opposed to a level 50+ cap in other MMO's pretty effectivly cut down the grind. And since the intrduction of faction (the stuff you get from PvP, not the new update), it has become very easy to unlock PvP skills, runes, and item mods.

#3: A completly unlocked game would be retarded. Seriously. Who wants to play a game where you have everything to start with. Even if it was PvP only that would eliminate the need for faction and the need to actually play PvE. With anyone playing any positions you would not need to custom tailor a team to each players strengths. I find the strategy of making a team almost as fun as playing the game.

Sorry if all that came off a bit fanboy-ish, but I felt that post was very inaccurate. (And I am a bit of a Guild Wars fanboy anyways ;) )
