Day 1 of E3 started officially today but this is day 2 of coverage. Lou and Jim talk about the two big ole conferences today, Nintendo and Sony. We touch upon a handful of things from each that we felt were interesting and/or awkward. Wii Vitality Monitor anyone?

I love that you're doing a new podcast each day this week but I feel bad that I can't digest them fast enough to get comments on here in time for tomorrow's podcast.

Its called dedication to the cause son!
DOT MATRIX!!
Last Guardian, which contains the lovingly dubbed kitty dragon, looks amazing. I liked how the trailer depicted kind of a mesh of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus with the gameplay mechanics. Or at least as far as I can tell.
I agree on basically all the points you two made in the podcast. Good job guys.
Also, on the topic of motion controls, the PS3 one looks to be the best of the three as far as flexibility and the ability to make subtle movements. I still stick to my belief of motion control is something I dont want shoved down my throat, so I will sit back and wait. But I would rather hold something when I do movements then just wave and whack at air.

No PS3 for you Ruumis? For shame...FOR SHAME!!!
I would say Sony won the conference. Of all three the MS presentation was the slickest. The lack of sales figures and the overall flow was pretty well done. Sony's is similar to how it has been for years with all the montages, and nothing compares to last years when they used LBP to show their sales figures. That was genius.
But the releases on the PS3 were just too good and I think gave them the edge overall. I just wish they showed a few more demos of games live, but I guess thats what the show floor is for.
I think Project NATAL has the most potential without a doubt. The stuff they have shown in the tech demos and on the marketing videos is just scratching the surface. Imagine what Lionhead can do if with it if they have 1 year to work with it instead of 1 month!
The PS3 motion control is basically the wiimote w/motion control plus is it not? Motion Control Plus for the wii makes it 1:1 movement. The PS3 motion control is 1:1. What is the difference? The PS3 is basically going to be on par with the Wii in terms of motion control while the 360 leapfrogs both of them.

Shadow - how is the ps3 motion control any different than the wii-mote with motion control plus attached? They're both 1:1.

The wii-mote is only one 1:1 motion controller, the other part of the nunchaku is not. When they were showing the PS3 one they were utilizing two which was allowing for more interactive gameplay. Whether that makes it into the final rendition remains to be seen, but from what was shown it has the ability to be more powerful.
Gotcha. Thanks
Oh...and also the sony wiimote turns red if you use a fire spell...which is a plus, i guess?

I was just thinking about the motion controllers by MS and Sony and the ability for those two to succeed seems to be fairly low. I understand they could both turn out great, but with the Wii, you have a controller you have to use. Its packaged with the system and is the only way to play the majority of the games. With Microsoft and Sonys, you have the same issue they have had with their video camera add ons, the motion controllers will be add ons. Not something people have to have, which means getting people to adopt the controllers will be a tougher sell.
