Based on an updated version of the same engine technology used in Bungie's first person shooter Halo, Rebel Without a Pulse puts players in control of a wisecracking zombie named Stubbs, who takes on an ultra-modern city of the future using nothing but his own carcass and the weapons of his possessed enemies. The game is rife with tongue-in-cheek humor, a strong storyline and innovative combat techniques.

Aspyr has released a demo for Wideload Games' zombified action game Stubbs The Zombie allowing you to try out one level of the full game.

I gotta give this game a big "meh." It's definitely worth renting or picking up for cheap, but overall I was disappointed.

The Pros: It's funnier than most games, it's cool to have a pack of zombies following you around (especially when some of them are legless and dragging themselves), and the brain-eating animations are awesome.

The Cons: The level design is boring and repetitive, the combat is boring and repetitive and not very strategic, and the controls and animation are jerky.

With those pros and cons, it's just not much of a "game." But I suppose at least now you can try a demo...

When ever I load the demo I can hear sound but it outputs no picture to my monitor.

I own the game and also get no vid once I start ... not even safemode works.

Reading the min specs: the supported vid card for nvidia STARTS with the FX5200 series. I am just guessing that my 128mb 4200 Ti is unsupported.

I can run Doom 3, HL2 and Quake 4, but try and run a Fancy Halo-mod and it wont work.

I just read in another forum that indeed, the GF 4200ti results in a "broken / cracked LCD monitor effect"

Crap.

I have a 7800GT in this PC, and even though it says that its supported this is whats happened:

1) Game starts but then no vid and no sound.

2) With Start as maximised with Compat for Win 98 mode, it starts. I set up the settings and it says yo restart to change res.

3) from then on wqith default and those settings on the shortcut as above the game doesn't load saying that I fail to meet the minumum video card requirements. The rest of this PC is 3500+ A64 and 1GB Ballsitix DDR. Fuck Stubbs.

to get the game to work you have to force your monitor 800x600 at 60hz. this is on their support page. the game defaults at this res at startup then you can change it.

it is an awesome game i think!!!!!

Their workaround for no-video sucks.

Am I the only one who bought the PC Version of Stubbs and found it started getting really repetitive around the large Police section with all the cops? I am on the level after that, but I'm not sure I want to play through it if the whole game is that repetitive. Besides the graphics are pretty bad compared to the pc shooters that have more modern engines.
