Top Spin 2 Shots

I love the new dynamic cloth systems on character models. It's such a small touch but it adds so much.

It would be nice to see this in action on a 360. One annoying thing as I see it with tennis games so far, and most other sports games too, are the jerky animation transitions, making the player behave like a stiff robot.

How does Top Spin play compared to Virtua Tennis? I LOVE Virtua Tennis. If this plays as good as that then i'm sold. The graphics are just a extra.

I've heard it's very similar to VT, which is a good thing as I too loved that game. Never managed to find a copy though.

Yes, Top Spin and Virtua Tennis are very similar in game play, so if you like VT I'm pretty sure you'll like this too.

Different enough. Virtua Tennis plays better with ball position. What I mean is the ball height matters at the time of impact. So you have to find yourself in good position to play the ball well. The original TopSpin is a fun game to play and it brings in "Super Shots" for lack of a better term. These shots, if you're good enough to pull one off, are REALLY fast flat shots or cut shots that you can put an incredible angle on.

TopSpin overall has more of an arcade feel than the finesse required in Virtua Tennis. TopSpin can get just as difficult as VirtuaTennis, and remains just as fun. The control is just slightly different which is almost to be expected.

My ony teeny complaint with Top Spin was that I could never get my character to look like anyone other than Micky Dolenz from The Monkees. It plays like a dream, though, which is all that really matters.

I've some of the most competitive matches ever with 4 people in front of the TV playing Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast. In the end you could hear nobody utter a word. You had to cover your part of the court or you got a evil glare from your friend :D The tension was awesome.

Heres hoping Top Spin can bring that type of feeling back.

My problem with Top Spin was risk shots. . . I sucked at them and you can't win at high levels without them. . . well, not dependably. Also, risk shots didn't feel like tennis. . . it was too arcadey and took me out of the game a lot.

Otherwise, super fun game. Tennis is one of the few sports I play in real life. Sure is fun.

I saw a trailer for this running on an xbox 360 kiosk. The ball never touches the racket. Watch the movies. It's really wierd. The player swings and the ball flies away but the two never meet. It gives an unearthly 'floaty' look to the animation.

It also does not help that the angle of the racket when hitting the ball appears to have no bearing on the direction the ball travels. The stills look good in a plastic-barbie-doll kinda way, but the motion really throws it all off.

My problem with the first Top Spin is the load times. I hope they're better in the sequel.
