For those of you who have been following this game, you'll be interested in knowing that you can now sign up to participate in the TimeShift closed beta.
If you haven't been following this game, it's worth checking out. It's got a lot of interesting features in it (like serious over-use of time compression).
Check out the new trailers here (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1606) and sign up for the beta right here (http://www.terriblesecretofspace.com/beta/use/Timeshift/form1.html).

Stopping time is a stretch... but if you look at the trailer, it makes sense... sorta

Trailer looked somewhat interesting. Interesting enough to warrant me trying out for the beta. Here's hoping.

Seriously. I hate unrealistic games, so I only play ones about being a drooling slob sitting in front of the computer all day. They're fucking awesome.

Man it's not about being unrealistic. Stopping "time" - how about just calling it "pause the game ... only YOU DON'T PAUSE!!!!!!!1111"
lol please. Hardly a feature, and almost entirely a gimmick that will be old as the hills before it even hits a hard drive. Anyone remember Messiah?
Yeah, exactly.
I would shut up until I actually tried it in the game.

messiah was that game where when you died you became a cherub and posessed people right?
i signed up, just for the excitement of being in a closed beta
and i think the "stop time then steal your enemy's weapons" is a fun feature
probably not the only one either
mostly i want to play this to see how they handle the interface of the timeshifting itself
will it be easy to use?

It's almost the same as bullet time, and god knows that can still be a total blast if implemented correctly (see: F.E.A.R.). I just wouldn't write it off as a gimmick until it's released and can be tried.

Max Payne did a decent job of slow motion too... I got REALLY good at diving across hallways in slow time and shooting people in the head with pistols. :D

Indeed it did. Was just digging for a more recent example to prove that any "gimmick" can continue to be good in a game if done well.

Does this remind anybody of that episode of Ducktales where Huey, Dewey, and Louie stole that stopwatch that stopped time?

LOL I remember that.
There was also a comic book from the 80's where some mad scientist stopped Woody the Woodpecker's kids or something on the way home from school, only they never realized it, got home late and got chewed out. ;)
