Heavy Rain certainly looks pretty, as you can tell by the most recent video released, but how does it play? Time will tell.
Hit the headline for the video.

Not to sure about that voice acting...

I'm confused, is the whole game just a series of Resident Evil 4 style cut scenes. Are they just for the boss fights? Is it an adventure game with no combat other than the quick button scenes? Bleh.

The voice acting is just awful and what is up with the banjo music??

Wow, what a let down. The trailer suffers from bad voice acting and bad dialog writing. Graphically, It makes the game look like a launch 360 title. They just keep removing reasons for owning a ps3 as time goes on. :(

I think the banjo music was just the music from the radio of the car as he was desperately trying to free himself. Notice the windshield wipers came on as well.

yeah I thought the radio playing the banjo music was funny.
The game is like Indigo Prophecy, especially since its made by the same people. Its like an action adventure game. Mostly you have time to wander around and figure stuff out but then the action kicks in and you have to keep pace or you could die.
The action scenes can be fun or sometimes pretty long and hard. In the first game you are wanted by the cops and have a scene where you can choose to save a drowning kid or not. If you try to save him and mess up the cops see and arrest you. If you save him the cop gives you a nod and he doesnt take you in. Its a live (video game) action choose your own adventure book.

No...
I mean, I know people are assuming this is going to be like Indigo Profecy because it's by the same people, but from actually reading what they say about it, it's much more a step in the direction of what they interactive movie than game.
Basically, from what they say, it's kind of a digital choose your own adventure book. Except instead of it being a book, it's a movie.
THey were saying that your first playthrough of the game could take less than an hour, and then the second time you play through, you make a differne choice and suddenly it's two hours. Then a third time you make a different choice and it's three hours. Etc.
So on the plus side it's responsive to your actions but on the negative side, for players like me, there's only one way I make choices. So if my choices result in the one hour game, to go back and say "I did this last time so now I'm going to do this" is to be completely outside the game and just playing with it like it was a toy, for me.

but how does it play?
It's super awesome! There's an action scene going on and at some point, there's a big fucking button icon showing up on screen, and if you press the corresponding button on your fucking controller in time, you win! And it goes on like that!
Man, talk about inventive and clever game design!

Umm, no.
If you decline to save the kid and just run away, your character gets mildly depressed and nothing happens. If you save the kid, nothing happens. No matter what you decide to do in that scene, nothing changes.
The game is full of "choices" like that: you choose to do or not do something, and it doesn't change anything.

So they removed the part of the GUI that made it look like a Simon Says game but they haven't done much with it, it like you take RE4 or 5 and remove the best parts, what your left with is shitty "interactive" cut-scenes, wonderful!

I'm intrigued with the game but if it is really going to be that short I won't bother. I don't know how much of this thread is conjecture, though, as I havent gone looking for much information on this game.

I don't think I'd at all mind a choose your own adventure (http://joeydevilla.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2006/03/66%20Choose%20Your%20Own%20Adventure%20covers%20%2 8huge%29.jpg) video game. I loved those books... Still, I'm not too hot at all on the whole QTE gameplay aspects.

Well, I mean, to be fair, Kings Quest 6, as amazing as it was, could have been less than an hour of gameplay if you chose to go swimming with the kid at the end of the first island. Then you load your save and choose to do something different.
This could be the same thing...

Haha, and you actually believe it too.

I remember when hard rain was known for being graphically superior. Now it looks pretty dated. Couple that with the boring gameplay that was shown and you probably have a huge flop.
Let this be a lesson to developers, don't try to make the prettiest game on the block because when you can't hit your target window, the only selling feature quickly loses it's luster.

This is all I can think of whenever I hear the title "Heavy Rain"

Okay... guess I'm going to be one of the first in this thread to say that nothing in this trailer surprised or disappointed me.
I'm a huge fan of Quantic Dream, their two previous titles were brilliant but flawed masterpieces. I'm expecting a similar experience... these guys try to push interactive story telling and to all the naysayers... I blame you and your hate before release date attitudes for the endless run & gun FPS titles that flood our game store shelves every day.
End for God's sake... yes... the banjo music is what was on the radio, it was not score. I thought the fact that when the camera was out of the car the music stopped would have been something of a clue. ;)
