Bloodrayne, a movie based on the video game of the same title, and Grandma's Boy, a low brow comedy built around the life of a middle-aged game tester, are being released today.

Check out Bloody Disgusting's review (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/review.php?id=463) of Uwe Boll's most recent drivel as he destroys another game franchise.

Uwe Boll is becoming a man of legend, and has quickly become a household name among horror fans. Like I've said many times before, his vision is one that only one man in history can compete with- Ed Wood. He has a heart of gold and is quite the producer, but when it comes to directing a million dollar picture, one must wonder, can anyone truly be that bad? Sometimes I wonder what I could do with $25 million bucks- let alone $60 (Dungeon Siege), and I'm not saying I could do any better- what I'm saying is, when is enough, enough?
All is not lost though, as JobLo's review (http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=9536) of Grandma's Boy (produced by Adam Sandler) reveals what looks to be an extremely entertaining, if not life-changing, comedy.

GRANDMA'S BOY is stupid funny. This movie is balls out, lowest common denominator, pulse of the culture comedy. And that's just fine with me. If you dig on stoner comedies like HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE or HALF BAKED, this movie is for you. If you have any grasp of video game or geek culture, this movie is for you.
I'm definitely going to check out Grandma's Boy. Nick Swardson is hilarious in everything I've seen him in. . . You guys probably recognize him as the guy who plays the gay hooker on Reno 911.

Nick Swardson is hilarious. I saw him live at a comedy club few years ago and he had the whole audience pissing their pants. He's much better than the way overrated Dane Cook IMO. Although his movie career so far is pretty spotty - I defy anyone to actually finish watching Malibu's Most Wanted.

I wouldn't call anything that dude makes a "gamer movie"

He destroys everything we care about.

Ya, I'm looking forward to Grandma's Boy. But I'll be watching it on DVD like six months from now, since going to a theatre is so impractical for me. The cast seems solid, and the story entertaining. Plus the previews I've seen for it have all been funny.

Maskatron is my new hero. Finally, someone else who thinks Dane Cook is overrated.

Phh, he makes substandard movies that are fun to laugh at. Did anyone really care about Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, or House of the Dead? Or Postal 2, or Far Cry, or Hitman? It's not like any game he touches was ever going to have a movie anyway.

Alone in the Dark (the first) was one of the games (along with Tie Fighter, Pirates of Realmspace, and Star Control 2) that convinced me that I could no longer be happy with my sega genesis and it was time to get me one of them new fangled IBM PCs.

Just because someone was deperate enough to sell this hack director the rights to Alone in the Dark doesn't mean it was a crappy franchise. Under competant hands AitD could have made an AWESOME horror movie with the built in Lovecraftian themes.

Apparently, the only reasons he keeps doing the movies are that:

He could theoretically hit the jackpot and do a big hit with low budget
He gets a tax refund or tax break, as per Germany's messed up fiscality laws, whenever he loses money when making a movie.

He's sucessfuly destroyed how many franchises so far? 4? 5?
What part of "Alone in the dark" didn't he understand? A score of army guys with assault rifles is far from ALONE. Killing zombies in plain daylight in a forest is far from "In the dark"

anyway.. I won't even rent it.

You want a quality production? Go seek Dungeons and Dragons: The Elemental Might.
at 15 millions, can't get any better.

How the hell can you destroy Bloodrayne? That game was just horribly shitty.
Also i'd like to remind you that Alone in the Dark 4 funked up the franchise, how many of you actually played the game? I'll tell you, it IS bad. Really, dissin' Uwe is like kicking a dead body. If AitD would have been named "Christian Slater dressed as a bum killing monsters" no one would have given shit, instead everyone would have just said "wow that was just mediocre"

I liked BloodRayne.

It's not a million dollar franchise, but I like playing a vampire-chick that jumps on dudes, uses them as a body-sheild, sucks their blood to reknew her health, and does this while pumping out heavy fire.

Then again. . . I really like vampires. I even enjoyed the middling Buffy the Vampire Slayer games.

I saw a preview for Grandma's Boy. Very good movie with lots of slapstick, raudy humor, decent gamer references, and a hot starlet. (One of the stars is the chick that played Velma in the Scooby Doo movies -- DAMN, SHE IS HOT!)

hmm, hearing how shockingly bad Uwe Boll's movies makes me feel like watching one of his movies.

You know what i'd like to see? Uwe Boll directing the movie adaptation of lemmings
