Last year the BBC did an interesting documentary about Nintendo. Thanks to the magic of Google video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2687866789001698114&q=nintendo) it is now available on the net. Eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=62349) has the scoop.

You're probably best off skipping the first bit, where the wide-eyed presenter marvels at the crazy Japanese with their funny foreign ways and pretends she's only just worked out what a Love Hotel is - don't worry, it does get more interesting later on.

Is all of the audio off sync for anyone else? Very annoying.

I thought this was a really bad effort when I originally watched it. I know that the BBC has a good name with regards to it's factual programming but this program didn't ask any decent questions.

It did, however, fund a nice little globe-trot for the presenter.

Go figure.

The biggest brazillian TV network, Globo, does that a lot. They send people on very cool journeys around the world, and these people do the lamest reports on each city they go. easy way to travel.

Ironicly, I am playing the PSP while watching this.

It was produced well, but you're right about the ill-effort and the Super-Happy-Fun-Fun Japan vacation for the presenter.

Is it me, or does this documentary follow the book "Game Over" almost exactly?

Am I on drugs? Did they not even say the word "Pokemon"? Not that I want to hear about Pokemon, but virtually every other summary of Nintendo that I have read, always mentions Pokemon, and for good reason. I mean, I saw a glass Pikachu in there somewhere, but I don't think they stepped on that topic.

(Though I did skip about a 7 minute portion of it. Maybe they mentioned it in there?)

I can't believe that lady managed an audience with Miyamoto
Anyone know when this was aired/created? I don't recall seeing one image of Iwata (though I skimmed through a fair chunk when they were talking with 'experts' of nintendo etc) or of the DS. Yes Twilight princess footage was in there....

Rather bad imo. I'd prefer 1up or someone who actually knows the industry to do a documentary on the big N.

P.S. Awesome site guys. Always fresh concerning the industry I love :D

Seems very tabloid and sensationalistic. The music doesn't help deter that stigma, either.

I'm not a fan.

The only part really worth watching is the last 15 minutes.

Yeah, I'd really like to know when this was shot..
It was played a day before the UK theatrical release of Kill Bill 2. (april 20th 2004, according to IMDB) and there's a shot of Zelda TTP?

(anyone was able to spot on what hardware that Super Mario World copy was playing?)

I didn't see TTP. What was playing in the background with the Zelda logo read "Orcana of Time" underneath the logo. Maybe someone just thought it was TTP.

Owner seems like a major ass if you ask me, and lincoln is the usual suspect in all regards. You can be ruthless all you want in the business world but he is openly an ass to his family and most of his workers.

Wow... they could have put a much better reported on this series/show, seeing as how the companies and topics involved are so huge. No room for amateurs asking stupid question, I'm afraid.

Some things I didn't know so much about, like Yamauchi's home (or what little we saw of it, more like) and several other minor things.

And the "Nintendo seizure" stuff is always hilarious. Bright flashes and repetitive patterns exist in music videos, film trailers, advertisements, TV shows... and even games from the competitors, like SEGA, Sony and Microsoft. Yet Nintendo was targeted, obviously because it had such a big marketshare. But even after their marketshare greatly declined they were still being targeted...
