You gotta love the semantics game. Joystiq (http://joystiq.com/2006/01/06/sandisk-infers-ps3-and-revolution-to-ship-in-2007/) is doing that with the latest press release from SanDisk (http:/www.sandisk.com).

Memory maker SanDisk released a press statement at this week's CES conference infering the Revolution and PS3 launch of "next-year," this being in 2006. From the SanDisk press release dated January 5, 2006: "Early announcements from both Sony and Nintendo have indicated that their next-generation game consoles – PlayStation 3 for Sony and Revolution for Nintendo – will also support USB connections when the consoles go on sale next year."
Eh....doubtful. Fun to speculate non the less.

Looks more like a date typo :)

Still 2007 for Europe is almost certain IMHO.

It wouldn't suprise me if the PS3 and Rev came out in 2007. We haven't heard anything from either company apart from a few demos and theoretical videos

The Rev I think is close enough to being ready where it'll launch in 2006. I think Nintendo's just been very careful about information leaking, and haven't wanted to start up a hype yet.

PS3, if rumors can be believed, was having some serious heat issues not to long ago and had to go back to the drawing board a bit. Even if that's not true, considering no one has yet to play on a working PS3 (that I know of) I'm doubtful of it's spring 2006 launch. Or a 2006 launch in general.

At least people have played on a Rev and lived to tell the tale...

There was a news item last week or so stating that Nintendo was ready to start production. Hmmm... Rev will almost certainly be done I think. The tech is not super cutting edge so N should have no problem getting everything working (unlike Sony).

Both are featured heavily on their respective websites with 2006 release dates, and Sony will force the PS3 out the door by Q3 of this year no matter what because it's a $500 Blu-Ray player. It won't matter so much if you're not actually watching movies on it, but they can claim you are in their sales figures, which will mean they can claim Blu-Ray is whooping HD DVD.

I agree with that completely, and that's what scares me. As much as I dislike Sony, I love Jap RPGs, so I'm more than likely going to get a PS3.

Still, I'll wait till the 3rd or 4th version of it to come out, as I doubt the first couple will be stable. But by god it'll play Blu-Ray moves ;).

Nintendo Europe's own website says the Revolution will be released in 2006. Nintendo execs also have mentioned before that the Revolution will launch in 2k6. And I'm sure one could call Nintendo and confirm that indeed 2k6 is when the Revolution will launch. But no let's spread the same weak article across the net.

Revolution + PC for me most likely.... although 360 is sometimes tempting with its Gears of War.
