Absolutely terrible. Like a console shooter.
On that note, let's check how much they have improved Tiger Woods this year

Yeah, I'll probably skip TW10 this year. I'm only about 1/4 through the challenges in 09. This is definitely a game that doesn't need a new disc every year.

i know i'm in the minority here, but whenever a game i'm excited about starts off with 2 console demos first, with no mention of a regular demo on the PC, i take that as 'read between the lines' and lose all interest in the game. well, until i see it in the bargain bin i suppose.

Ah! the smell of internet trolls in the morning.
I thought the single player demo was amazing. Especially considering I had absolutely no expectations. The destruction is extremely well done and satisfying. I'll probably give the multiplayer demo a shot.
As for Tiger Woods well, I'm with LilAbner, I have finished about half the challenges of the previous one and probably gonna skip this one. If I'm picking it up, it'll probably be on the Wii depending on how good the Wii Motion Fix controls are.

Things do blow up quite nicely in the singleplayer demo, but then the rest of the game was just like any other generic, boring console shooter. Plus, I got tired of blowing things up after about three minutes. But at least I won't have to buy the game because I got enough out of the demo.

How many of those have there been in the last two-ish years?

Two years? How about forever?
A shooter is a shooter. It's easier to aim on the PC because of the mouse. End of the fucking story.

How many of those have there been in the last two-ish years?
Not many if any. Thus, fps games being generic console shooters.
What really annoyed me in this latest generation Red Faction was that the destructible environments illusion was broken instantly when you could do absolutely nothing on the terrain itself.

So a game is unique and engaging if you can use a mouse to aim?
Thanks.

That's why they're "unique" :p

I'm actually looking forward to Tiger 2010. I didn't get 09 but did get 08. You guys are right that the Tiger games are usually good for over a year. I am just hoping that the multiplayer is good on this as I have friends that I would enjoy playing 18 holes with.

Looks like that went a mile over your head. ;)
I'd be curious to know what you PC snobs consider deep and engaging PC shooters of old. Wolfenstein? Doom? Quake? Unreal?

Yes.

You're Welcome.
Red Faction is going to be extremely mediocre. I've called it since day 1. Just you wait. I'm going to say a 6.7 on IGN.

Tried the Red Faction demo and I really liked the way the envoirment was destroyed, but I didn't like the controls.
Will it be released on the PC as well?

You sir are on a roll today, and its commendable.
By the way to all you haters out there...I think this game is going to review well. I listen to podcasts from all the large sites and they all seem to really like Red Faction and find it a lot of fun. They were as surprised as many other people are.
The reason for releasing a demo, especially for both components, is so people can get a handle on a game that might not have as much buzz, so they feel a demo will sway people. If a game is crap you dont release a demo, you want people to blindly buy it, not confirm their suspicions. Its similar to a movie not being available for review previous to its release.

Red Faction demo hurt itself a little bit b/c it only showed one mission. Some of its charm will come from the over all mission structure. I have played a game that is like what they are going for, its called Outcast for the PC.
Which BTW is an engaging PC shooter, its actually one of the best games I've ever played.
The thing is when you destory EDF property, you hurt their regieme over all. The destruction actually serves more than a cool visual.
If anyone here has played Outcast you would understand. Personally I can not wait till Red Faction releases, it's going to be sweet.

....I'd be curious to know what you PC snobs.......
Hearing the word "snobs" always brings me back to a certain memory.
When I was growing up my parents or older persons would always comment on the "snobs" that lived on the other side of the tracks (ala Outsiders, I know) or when traveling down a certain road {we called it Richville}.
Ya know what? Once I grew up I came to the realization that all of these so-called "snobs" were being labeled that because they really did have it better, and my parents and the others using those terms were simply jealous. So, I got my act together, finished college, quit using drugs and worked myself up to a very nice neighborhood that I believe is a better place to raise the kids than what me and the misses had before. Now I live in "Richville". {it's not THAT nice, but you get the point}
So, my question is, do you secretly envy us PC snobs? Have you yet to realize the grass is greener over here?
!METAPHOR ALERT!
Hey, I think a really nice house opened up on the other side of town. It's more expensive and requires a little more work, but once you're here you'll understand why.

I hope you didn't waste too much time writing this touching testimony. ;)
Thanks for adding weight to my "analogies never make any god damn sense" theory, though.
Guess what? I have a PC too! I don't play games on it like I used to, though. Hell, I've been working in IT for 17 years and I even spent years making mods part-time for Quake 2/3 and SoF2. But I digress. I'm platform agnostic. I have them all. PC, 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and iPod touch. Yeah, I know...
Call it a personal pet peeve, but of all the fanboys variations, the PC ones irk me the most because I know first hand that the superiority of their beloved shooters is complete bullshit.
I wouldn't argue over RTSs but FPSs? GTFO.

You shed a tear you soft bastard! I know it!:p
I figured you had a PC, but didn't realize you own so many different platforms. Wow, that's a lot!
So you really don't think that ANY SINGLE FPS that is on consoles and PC is better on the PC due to mouse and keyboard support? *save Gears
Maybe you were never very good with the mouse-aiming thing. Is that why you don't like it better?
side note: I know some people who look like a fucking epileptic once they wrap their hands around a mouse, it's hilarious. I didn't mean you, though, just saying.

Easier to aim? Sure! Better game for it? Nope. And for crying out loud, stop giving credit to the keyboard. It's all about the mouse. Keyboards suck. [/petpeeve] :p

You take that back! I've founded my own Quake 2/3 clan sir! And we played in ladders and tourneys and lan partys and all the uber dorky stuff! My railgun was feared son! My devastated victims even accused me of being a filthy zbot cheater sometimes! :D

I grew up on PC Shooters since Catacombs and Wolf 3D, the first time I picked up an analog stick for the Halo Beta @ E3 in those silver tower Xbox 1 dev kits (if you remember them) I was like huh? Fast forward and Im a Halo vet and play with analog sticks and kb / mouse, I like both for different reasons. As far as the premium shooter platform though I would still side with the PC for historical reasons and higher settings and customization options along with superior control (for the most part). Fallout 3 is the example that comes to mind more than anything else currently, while not a pure shooter it is definitely better looking and playing on PC. Does that make me a snob?

Another reason I like PC better is because you are not forced to use Microsofts proprietary online service and get to host your own servers, oh and then there are all the free mods. I wish more of my console gaming buddies would step up to the PC world but that's probably never going to happen...

I for one play Fallout 3 on the PC, using my HDTV and 360 controller. Best of both worlds.

keyboards suck.
I disagree, I think that having an array of buttons at my fingertips quickness is what makes it so nice. Actually, I use an N52 NON-TE because of the D-pad, which I use for changing stances or weapons and things like that.
WSAD? It's a way of life!
