View Full Version : New Tomb Raider Movie Confirmed as Reboot
In case you didn't know there is a new Tomb Raider movie in the works and it looks like a third Angelina Jolie casting is out of the question. The film's producer has stated that the film will reboot the franchise and serve as an origin story for Lara Croft. Can we expect it to pick up on the themes established in 'Legend'?
And you're also going to be involved in Lara Croft?
Dan Lin: "Yeah, we're rebooting Lara Croft as well. Really excited - it's a great origin story that we're going to tell. A very character-oriented I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies."
Any casting on that yet?
Dan Lin: "Not yet."
But it is going to be a younger version so it can't be Angelina Jolie?
Dan Lin: "It is an origin story so it is a younger Lara Croft."

I liked the first two for what they were, cheesy popcorn lameness.

If they can do a reboot half as good as Star Trek, I'll love it. I always thought Lara's story was interesting, but there's something about Angelina {maybe it's that she's a nasty-disease-infested-looking-skank} that I never really liked.
Hmmppff, maybe the next gal will be better and then I'd say this story has a good chance.

With Angelina Jolie.
Yes, a popcorn movie could be fun without her, but I don't know that I'll be as interested.

I love how the interview makes it seem like the studio was unfortunately unable to take Angelina Jolie because it would be a "younger version."
I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to get/afford her. Especially now that she's out saving the world.

She gets my vote.

I hope the rumors that it's not Megan Fox are false.

This is going to be even worse than the first two. Think Legend of Chun-Li, except 10 times better.

When he said younger I didn't exactly expect 12 years old either.

Tomb Raider hardly had any story and Hollywood still managed to fuck it up.

Ah-ha-ha-haaaaaas if you'd say no. :D
For me, Angelina was the only redeeming feature(s) of the movies. But, whatever. It's not like I'm producing the things.

Nah, that would be hard!
Remake.Reboot..For every awesome "Star Trek", we'll get 10 reboots of "Booty Call" or "Cliffhanger".
Oh wait, they're actually remaking "Cliffhanger"
Sigh.
