Forgive me from borrowing a discussion topic from Kotaku this weekend, but it has been on my mind these past couple of weeks. We're in the big lead up to E3 and there have been several developers and publishers that are announcing announcements. Arguably the biggest one was an teaser about a Hideo Kojima game that will be announced this coming Monday. I have personally refrained from posting the announcements of the announcements as news here but I'd like to hear what you have to say.
Would you like to see us post these announcements of announcements? Are they good for hype or do they just make you annoyed? Tell us your general thoughts and feelings, and innermost desires.

They peeve me off. I check my gaming sites every day, for the most part. I don't need an extra reason to check gaming news on X day just b/c they told me a week before.
The Thief 4 one is a great example, they basically tried to hype the fact that they were going to leak the info anyways when they posted up the job listings, so they turned it into an 'event'. So all of us are expecting news about seeing atleast some game footage at E3 that is around the corner, but all they do is post up "Help wanted for Thief 4"

I prefer not. It just seems like posturing.
"We are going to tell you something awesome on 1 week. You better not miss it. It is going to be the best thing since the the last time we said it would be the best thing and you remember how awesome that was."
The actual announcements are never as awesome as our minds build them up to be. So disappointment is always there.
Example, lets say Sony would've announced that they were giving away a free game this PSN a week before they were going to. All week people would be talking and wondering what it would be and then finally when it happened...Rag Doll Kung fu...
Wah...wahhhhhhhhh
Factual news as it happens with substance is my preference.
I agree with the above 2 posters. Skip the hype, post the news please!
Please just post the news.

I'd like to announce that my opinion on announcements of announcements may appear sometime in the not-too-distant future!
Now, wasn't that informative?

Announcements of announcements are just the marketing dept of a company taking advantage of the desperation of news sites to post content.
I don't think EvAv has any shortfall of content, hence there is no need to be taken advantage of by marketers.

As a matter of fact, let's only talk about actual gameplay and skip the hype all together.

Why don't you guys wait til the announcement is announced then post the announcement itself instead of posting the announcement about the announcement. That would make everyone's life much easier (including the lives of the announcers of the announcement).

There are a few occasions when the announcement of an announcement is news. For example, when someone states that they'll reveal a new console or handheld at E3.
When the announcement contains ZERO content (and that content cannot be guessed at) then it is a waste of everyone's time.

News only is what I desire.

And to make things even worse, it seems that Hideo Kojima's hype squad have announced... get this.
An announcement of an announcement, of an announcement.
Their teaser website was just updated with a countdown instead of any information.
this is total guess work, but i believe this is one of two things:
Metal Gear Solid 5: 360 Exclusive
OR
Zone of the Enders 2 (with intentional MGS flash fake-out, kinda like what Blizzard did with the Diablo III page)
