Namco Hometek and Bandai Games have announced that the two companies' integration is "now complete". The new outfit will be known as Namco Bandai Games America Inc. in North America and will operate out of Namco's HQ in Santa Clara, CA.

"We are thrilled that the integration of the two North American entities is now complete and we are all now under one roof,” said Genichi Ito, the new president and CEO of the company. "We are proud to be part of the new family and look forward to a successful year ahead."
Nice logo, but that name is a mouthful!

Pfft, nonsense. Think of it on the Pac Man World 4 box... Perfect. :)

The logo is two amorphous blobs... I'm sure there is some sort of symbolism there that should be ridiculed, but I can't quite find it.

so would you say this was a fair share integration or a cover up take over lol I like the logo its not the best thing to look at but it's not awful either but couldn't they have come up with a cooler name like Ban-co or Nam-dai or super hyper Nammi-Ban-da-co

All we have to do is come up with a catchy abbreviation. Like BanCo! Or NamDai! BanNam! I got nothin...

EDIT: Wow - I posted this and THEN saw Raven-payne's response saying the exact same thing. Freaky.....

It's the best I can do.

EDIT - Crap, I worked on anagrams, not abbreviations. My bad.

Namco Bandai Games America = NamBanGamAmThat doesn't sound American at all. :D

How about whichever company sucks less, we just refer to the conglomerate with that name.

So, I vote for just calling it Namco. :p

Between this and the thread about Intel's new slogan I think we can safely assume that we all have way too much time on our hands and not enough problems.

That's god damn hillarious.

Though..it's pretty close to the ever popular saying: "Wham bam, thank you ma'am"

I am a graphic designer currently working at an advertising firm. Personaly I like the logo. Its important not to go too overboard when doing a logo. U need something thats going to faxable. Something that can be easily converted to black and white and generaly U want more of a mark or a symbol using vector shapes as opposed to raster images. I see this logo as a merger. u have the red shape that symbolizes one company and the yellow which symbolizes the other. when those two come together you have the center area which becomes orange. in this orange area the new company name is contained showing that the overlap is the new company. you also have the areas that aren't overlaping which symbolizes the areas in each company that are not simular. Over all this logo is about two becoming one and both companies bringing something new to the table to benifit the other.

You may find this far fetched or maybe you wont. but belive me this is how us creatives think. Everything has to have a reason even if its not ovious.

please excuse any spelling mistakes. thank you.

"Namco Bandai Games America Inc." just rolls off the tounge -- kind of like a chewed up mass of food after a successful Heimlich manuever.

I don't think it's far fetched at all. It's pretty obvious actually.

I don't think it's the "symbol" of the logo that's shocking people, it's the absurdly long name which should have been shortened to possibly a new name entirely.

The easiest things are often the hardest to see, though. Excellent suggestion - I put Banamco up FTW.

No, I understand why they chose simple vector images.
I'm making fun of it because having two colors combine into
one "new" color is ridiculous and obvious. It seems like something a child would do. The color-merge idea is relevant for maybe 6 months, then it becomes irrelevant. There's no longevity to it.

Also, the "blobs" may be vector-based images so they scale nicely, but the don't mean anything. If I saw those blobs on their own, would I think "Bandai Namco"? Probably not. If you see the Nike Swoosh, you know it's the Nike Swoosh.

And that is why everytime I see or hear the name Bandai I think of the Power Rangers.

Hopefully the company will be more Namco and less Bandai.

As for the logo, I hate it, it looks like something someone with Illustrator and very little imagination came up with in 10 minutes. The shapes are sloppy, the color combination doesn't really catch your eye and the logo itself is far from being something memorable or appealing. Hopefully it was something rushed out the door as a placeholder and the good logo is still being worked on.

With the way mergers go one of the names will be dropped within a year. It is all part of the corporate shuffle. A new logo will emerge at that time as well.

U need something thats going to faxable.

That logo won't fax well. Be interesting to see the solid version if they have one and whether the reverse version works (all logos should be designed with that in mind). Also the typography is very pedestrian (maybe as a contrast to the blobs). I'm not advocating a radical typographic change just something which could add a bit more ownership to the logo overall. The organic shapes are friendly and approachable...especially for a corporate. I'd like to see their promotional material and see how its applied overall.

Importantly its the changes the new company brings which are most important not the logo - thats cosmetic.
