Everquest II: Kingdom of Sky (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060103/latu048.html)

Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced that the second expansion for EverQuest II, entitled Kingdom of Sky, is scheduled to be available at retail and for download on Feb. 21. The retail SKU of Kingdom of Sky will sell at the recommended price of $29.99 and contains the full version of the base EverQuest II game, the new expansion and a special in-game item. The digital version will contain the new expansion for $26.99.

"Kingdom of Sky offers something for all of our EverQuest II players," said Laura Naviaux, senior brand marketing manager, Sony Online Entertainment. "For the seasoned EQII player, Kingdom of Sky increases the amount of high level content in a world filled with intrigue and the potential destruction of Norrath by the evil dragon lords. The second expansion pack brings the excitement of dragon battles and is timed to coincide with the newly-added Player vs. Player (PvP) action."

EverQuest: Prophecy of Ro (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060103/latu046.html)

Sony Online Entertainment Inc. God dammit.... what the fuck. Another new EQ1 expansion? This is seriously getting out of hand. Beyond that, 30 new missions? Only 30 new little shit-quests for your players to go on, for $30? Let's see how that compares to WoW, which will probably add 100+ quests in addition to all the new quests they add for free EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS!

SoE pisses me off more every day...

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I believe EverQuest Titanium will be out next week with every expansion pack released to date for $20. You could buy that, and then drop $26.99 on the digital version of Ro.

I have to agree though - 30 missions, destructible environments, and player-set traps for the same price as the EQ2 expansion? No thanks. I won't sit here and try to compare an expansion pack for a six year-old game to a game released back in November 2004, but there's not a single upgrade in the world that could be worth $30 for EQ.

However, another expansion pack would settle well for those folks who (1) hold a Station Pass or (2) recently forced to uninstall AC2 after the servers were shut down. AC and AC2 players (at least from what I read on the AC forums) love themselves some old-school EQ for reasons that are unknown to me.

Alls I can say is, I've been playing EQ2 again recently, and I must say the changes made to the game are excellent. I enjoy it much more now than I did at launch, and I liked it then too, so...

To each their own, I guess.

*insert required cash cow milking sound here*

However, if it sells, it sells... If they weren't making money on these things, they wouldn't be still making them.

Read the release. It is going live around the time of the expansion launch.

Looks like we'll be seeing EQ2 expansions at the same rate as EQ1 expansions. The Desert of Flames EQ2 expansion seems like it just came out (last fall?). I don't have any ill feelings about it. I played EQ for nearly 5 years and EQ2 for 1 year. Some of the best gaming in my life, period. Only fond memories here. If others are still enjoying it as much as I did back then, I'm thrilled for them.

I don't know why. Back in the day AC1 was one of the two games you played if you thought EQ sucked ass. Which it did, and still does. It's sad that a great game like AC1 can fall while an patchwork game like EQ can continue to prosper.

Have you seen what they've done to SWG? The horror they brought to that gaming community? Imagine if someone at Bungie decided that Halo 3 was going to be a prequel set in the Star Wars universe, with the Increadible Hulk as the lead character, and Uwe boll as the lead developer. Then you might have some idea of what they did to SWG.

Have you actually played it? All they really did is make combat less boring and add a new tutorial.

ROFTLE!

I was playing EQ back when the AC beta test came out and tried it. I couldn't wait to get back to playing EQ, it was that horrible. Mouselook support was so crappy it was unusable. And what did we do for exps? We killed things called "drudges" that looked like pillow cases stitched together. Oh, and cows. Cows for crying out loud that were camped heavy.

AC1 better than EQ?

ROFTLE!

But in all seriousness, both games have their strengths and weaknesses and I'm sure that both are excellent. It's just a matter of preference. EQ sucks ass to an AC1 player no more than AC1 sucks ass to an EQ player.

Im not sure thats how I would describe it. Took a game I used to like and just made it really bland and boring for me.

I said "Less Boring," not "Not Boring."

And both players sucked the cock of any UO player.

It's what the mouth breathers do when the game stores close for the night.
