Worthplaying (http://www.worthplaying.com/) has posted screenshots (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=30843&mode=thread&order=0) from the upcoming RPG adventure game, Grotesque. (http://www.grotesque-game.de/)
...is a new adventure/rpg from German developer Silent Dreams, and promises to be an original blend of traditional fantasy RPG (like Gothic, Fable, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment) and sarcastic humor with adventure elements along the lines of Monkey Island
I assume from the Babelfish translation it's going to be on the PC.

At first glance, I thought these were going to be screenshots from today's most violent games. ;)

The concept is somewhat compelling. It could be cool if pulled off right.

Is that bare ass in one of those shots? That's the only grotesque thing I'm seeing.

Looks like Fable.
My thoughts exactly. And it looks like the artists went overboard on the bloom effect... it's enough to blind a man.

Fantasy comedy is always parody and even more always hamfisted. I'll pass.

i'm skeptical as well, rpg and comedy has never been a stable combination, even the recent bard's tale (well, ok, more like action/rgp) felt a bit awkward. but i wish them luck, perhaps someone will get it right someday.

So, you control this blurry Bloom character, fighting other more hideous Blooms. As you kill them, your Bloom powers become more powerful and in the end the world fades to a complete blur?

Who ever named the game, didnt want it to sell apparently.
They should have cut to the chase and named it "Shitty".
Since i study this shit (English) and come from Germany, I might as well give you a quick and dirty translation of the plot summary:
>>
it's the year 1133 in the phantastic medieval world of "grotesque". the forces of good and evil are once more going to war to force a decisive battle. In the end however, the gigantic armies destroy each other... which leads to the population seeking conflicts: mages duel each other, orc-gangs terrorise the noble elves, monsters are being bred and the commercial hero dungeon emerges, an amusement park for morbid hero parties. The world lies in chaos and the evil can regenerate. Suddenly, you're pulled into the mix!
Your name is roger sun, you're from the present earth, love metal music, are being intrigued by fantasy and have beaten them all once: the gotic xardas, the evil ganon and Aribeth, who'll never live in winter again.
Now you're here in grotesqze, sufferin from amnesia, which immediately leads you to believe in the typical rpg-amnesia-sickness that you're the chosen one. The Citizen of Grotesque don't really care though: Almost every week a chosen one stops by, wanting to save the world - it's all been done one too often. Avoided by society, the chosen ones usually end up in the psychatric ward for mentally disturbed heroes. What's strange though, is that you seem to be known to some people in grotesque already: asian priest aiko tells you that you're married to her, a psychopathic vampire couple even tries to capture you by force and throw you in front of a beatiful but pretty sadistic goddes. You're on the run. Using her last bit of energy, aiko manages to teleport you away after the vampire attack. when you're getting conscious again, mysterious voices are sweetly talking to you and want to help you the become the true Chosen One.
Who are you really, and what happened in your past?
Are you from Earth, have you been living in grotesque all along or are you just crazy?
Put away your magic cards and throw away your 12-sided dice, because this is the Ultimate Challenge.

sounds alright, although i dont like the fact that the developement team is _really_ emphasizing the fact of being oh so rebellious. :)
