Hooray for nerfs to healing/dispelling classes! Hooray for more uber dps weapons to kill healers with! Hooray for more content I can't do since my guild can't fight its way out of a wet paper bag!

Not that it will stop me from playing, mind you.

Now we just sit and wait until AQ opens up :(

At least we'll have a couple more weeks to make progress in BWL before we get sidetracked with AQ, but I definitely welcome the chance to have our pick of instances now that we can clear MC easily.

I'm really hoping that the causal 60s like myself can contribute to opening up AQ in some way.

They've said there will be soloable quests and turnins for items found around the world so casuals can help open the gates. Never tried test so I dunno for sure...

My only wish is that they would start adding lower level stuff as well, more instances for lowbies along the quality of the Deadmines would be appreciated as well. I have a toon at 54 and slowly heading toward 60, and all this new content is appreciated. But don't forget the alts and new players :)

From what I heard, everyone will be involved..0-60, horde and alliance alike. Everyone can help!

It wouldn't matter if you had, the gates were already open on Test so they could test out the actual AQ instances. I got in one and fought a boss that was quite different from any of the other encounters I've seen so far, even in MC.

@ Intruder: I've leveled up 3 60s, 2 Horde and 1 Alliance and there are still quests I haven't done. I appreciate the desire for new "old" content but the cruel fact of the matter is that few people run instances anyway, much less more than 5 times, before they hit level 60.

Ugh. Is it really necessary for them to bring their web servers down to patch the game servers?

I'll have to see for myself if the new content is worth trying out. I've got a 60 rouge and a few lower alts. But I don't have a guild so it's very hard to really do much once you hit 60. There aren't any 5 man instances/quests to go on that I can hook up for. I don't mind not having access to all the uber stuff in MC or Blackwing Lair. I understand that to obtain those items you need to be part of a guild and thats perfectly reasonable. But I still want something to DO :P

It was great when I first started playing because every 3-4 hour session felt fun and like I was accomplishing something. Now I feel like I've hit a wall and there just isn't anything left to do.

Since their site is down, and since I play one of those classes, I'd like to ask: what nerfs?

I'm more concerned about the lag and server queues. I think there were some lag fixes in 1.9, but it's been pretty craptacular for the last month or two for me it seems like.

And yeah, everybody should be able to help open the Gates of AQ, but I don't know if it's been revealed exactly how that is done yet. We have some top guilds on my server, so I think we'll be faster than average, but still curious how many days/weeks that'll equate to. I really hate having content included but not yet accessible..

The new raid calendar system sounds exciting, but I know no specifics. Anyone got a clue?

I find your post darkly humourous: namely, a casual player is excited at the possiblity of additional quests that ulimately allow raiders access to content a casual player won't see.

I freely admit to my current displeasure with WoW and the raider content vs everything else.

Roc Ingersol

They've got a serious dilemma on their hands wrt the 60+ content split.
It's pretty clear Blizzard assumed everyone would just gladly fold into the raid game at the end. All their responses to the "We don't want to raid" crowd have been drenched in confusion.

Perhaps, when they're done being baffled, they'll actually address the problem.

just popped into my server, Eonar, looks like all the AQ stuff is in the military dist in IF, I imagine its the same for each capital city. It looks like quite a few things can help out: Bandages, fish, raptor meat, etc. I have to admit the bundles you get from just doing the rune bandages are nice little rewards in themselves. Should be fun to do these quests. Of course the numbers for each item are huge, Arthas tears alone need 20,000. These is gonna take awhile me thinks.

Not only does Blizzard disable their WoW website while they are patching the game, but they also don't update the PvP rankings on the web. In other words, I could log into the game right now and see my new rank for the week but the website is still showing last week's ranks. Seems like it would be easier to just have the website pull that info from the database but what do I know...

They're just moving the big raid instances to reset at a certain time each week. This is being done to prevent a guild from running through and finishing their instance on Thursday, then hopping over to another instance that finishes Friday. Really nothing to write home about in the end.

Did you ever play Everquest and participate in a 10th ring war? I never got one myself, but I'll be damned if it wasn't the most awesome game event I've ever had a part in. The existing raid level content is mostly blocked off to people because of the set number of people allowed in each raid. A huge, world event hearkens back to the Coldain War as something that sweeps up far more people than the ones who reap the most benefit from the event. I may not be the guy holding the hammer to sound the gong when it all comes down, but I can be there in the masses ready to fight the Quiraj off with everything I have.

On my server, there was a RP event (it's a PVP-RP server) wherein well over 150 horde met and fought with well over 150 Alliance. The world crashed. When it came back up, the remaining 200+ people fighting did their best in the slide-show that was the "battle"

I think realistically, WoW really doesn't scale well AT ALL with large numbers.

I imagine Blizzard and Raiders wished your perspective on this issue was widely held by the non-Raider crowd: I do not believe it's the case. If the WoW endgame was not ruled by: better gear > anyhting else, there would be no issue. As it is, Raiders can routinely bring their gear into PvP instances (nothing to do with Raids) and absolutely destroy non-Raiders in the current players vs raiders environment. Which is not cool.

GrinR: The overworld simply isn't meant for events of that scale, so I have my doubts that the entire server will show up for AQ's gate event. You can try and split the tasking out all you want but sooner or later you are going to have too many people in one spot and things are going to be too much for that machine or series of machines to handle. You're talking about taking complex input from 300+ different sources and processing it and trying to get a reply back to an equal number of clients in under a second. At some point things are going to break down. That being said I hope that it's the sort of thing that over a hundred people, maybe more, can show up for and take part in. It doesn't have to be like Thunderaan where a massive overworld boss gets zerged by 200 people, there is a lot more they can do with it to spread it out like multiple objectives to defend and attack to help alleviate some latency issues much like the Coldain Ring War did.

I don't disagree about the gear disparity Philip, but it's largely irrelevant for this. If you talk to most raiding guilds they don't recruit any more because then they have people sitting out of raids. Anyway, the Quiraj War has potential to be something you talk about years later (where were you when the Sleeper was awoken?) or something that is a complete gongshow. I'd like to be optimistic.

Thanks for the patch news, reminds me that when I get home I need to unsubscribe from WoW. I haven't logged into WoW since I started my new job and can't muster the interest to pick the habbit back up.

Maybe when the expansion comes out I'll give her another wirl. Hopefully they'll have new dungeons that REQUIRE your group to have a rogue so at least one of my level 60 chars gets some action.

The blue pvp reward gear is better for fighting players than just about any of the epic gear from Molten Core / Blackwing Lair. Of course getting high pvp ranks may require a level of effort similar to raiding. But you don't need to be in a guild to do it.

Now you sometimes might not get items/money sent to you in the mail. The mail will be there but have nothing in it.

Every mod is automatically out of date when a new patch comes out. That doesnt mean they dont work, it just means a new version has not been released yet. You can click the box that lets you run out of date mods and continue on your way.

Yeah, in theory, but you'll never know if that crash to desktop or lockup was due to the out of date addon or if it was just one of the new 1.9 features.
