New PS3 RPG 'Last Rebellion' Announced

More RPG goodness for the PS3 (is Sony ready to reclaim the genre crown?) with NIS American revealing 'Last Rebellion'. From 1up. (http://www.1up.com)

The PlayStation 3 is picking up another RPG, as NIS America has announced that they are developing The Last Rebellion with Hit Maker.

Promising that it won't feature the typical "mindless" RPG battle system, NIS says Rebellion will allow players to disable enemies by targeting limbs. In other words, it has a lot in common with Fallout 3, or perhaps Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria.

The story, meanwhile, is a "tale of revenge" featuring a "dark anti-hero" named Nine. He's joined by Aisha, who is a magic-user called a "sealer."

Ok I have to admit it you have said this enough now to pique my interest. Why is this the "Year of the PS3"? Now i must preface this question by saying for a system to "Have a year" it needs to outdo its rival and or completely outdo its nearest rival.

The PS3 has exclusives the Xbox does too, neither sysmte is making cry about not owning one over the other. What magic crystal ball are you seeing the release of World of Warcraft on (its a joke see it means thats the only thing that would make any system stomp any other one...).

I know, but see EA himself has never struck me as a "Fan Boy" and is either a convert (which might be looking at his other posts lately) or knows something and isn't sharing. It is why I became a regular on the website, the owner wasn't a fan boy. If he is converting ill just shrug and hang my head, if he is holding out on us, we tar and feather him.

You aren't the only one. I know quite a few people (including our regular Gears group) who gave up on Gears for other games due to all the online cheating and the high cost of the expansion packs.

I dread going back to my Xbox 360 now. I have almost broken the habit, I hate to go back now. ;)

You're fighting the wrong fight here. I'm a huge Sony fanboy and even I know that EA was being sarcastic with that comment.

Moral: leave what's said in other threads tucked away in those other threads. (e.g., I can make an objective point every once in awhile even though my posting history makes a good case for this user account being a furtive front for Ken Kutaragi at times! :D)

More RPGs is better than less. The article mentions some things that fill me with hope about this title, but as of now there's too little data to get aboard the hype train as of now.

Sweet. Looking forward to it. Loved the VATS system in Fallout 3...too bad can't say the same for snorefest game play in Fallout 3.

Hopefully this game gets it all right this time.

Killzone 2, inFamous, God of War III, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, MAG...

It seems like in 2009 that it is the Playstation 3 that has more exclusive titles and the most exclusive titles (and has some great titles) where the Xbox 360 all they have going for them this fall is Mass Effect 2 and a lot of multiplatform titles.

Like every year, it is a good year to own both, but I think I'll end up spending a lot more time with my PS3 this fall than I will with my 360.

If it makes you feel any better, I never thought Dragon Age looked worthwhile. Generic PC gaming RPG. Snooze. Grow an art style if you want people to pay attention. (ie, EverQuest II vs. WoW)
