IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/678/678280p1.html) has an article up with Japanese developers grading themselves on the 2005 year.

Satoshi Komuro -- Sony Computer Entertainment Publicity
Komuro gives himself 80 out of 100 for the year, claiming that there were a few things left undone that he'll finish up in 2006. He promises to surprise everyone in 2006 with PlayStation-related developments, noting that the Tokyo Game Show showing of PlayStation 3 was just a glimpse at the system. The game that left the greatest impression with Komuro was Shadow of the Colossus. The event or happening that left the greatest impression with him was the Tokyo Game Show; he was personally most happy that many attendees downloaded games at the PlayStation Spot terminals.
The article is a pretty interesting read to hear what some of the developers and industry related people have to say.

If all japanese games had the polish of SoC I would like them a whole lot more. Sure you can see the game felt like a lesser built of another game but the formula still worked. instead of making rpgs or a hack'n'slash, make more titles like SoC or Katamari. the DS is a great example of the creativity of the japanese developer. If only that could leak onto the console market alittle more.

SoC was great, but I wouldn't call it that polished with the frame rate issues at times. RE4 and MGS3 had polish.

Funny how many Japanese developers love God of War. Hideo Kojima, Keiji Inafune, and I've read elsewhere Fumito Ueda... personally I liked DMC3 a bit more.

What a silly article topic. They should have had the developers rate other developers work instead. Would have made for more interesting conversations.

I liked SoC alot, but it was way too short. Espeically for its wait.

Yeah, Keiji's comment for GoW was really odd I thought though:

"The game that left the greatest impression with Inafune was God of War, which he believes offers a lot for developers to learn."

A lot for developers to learn? Was there some kind of breakthrough feature in the game that I missed?

I'd substract 20 points from Nomuras score for being unable to remove zippers from the character designs in Kingdom Hearts II and add the same points to Kojimas score for launching the most interesting blog I've read in a long time.
