According to GamingIndians.com (http://www.gamingindians.com/2009/04/review-hanuman-boy-warrior/), Hanuman: Boy Warrior for the PS2 is the Worst Console Game Ever.

Yahoo gaming site Plugged-In (http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/us-hindus-criticize-india-s-first-game/1307820) is also reporting that members of the Hindu religion are calling the control of Lord Hanuman "denigrating".

Hmmmm... Sounds familiar....

That region has some incredible programmers. It's only a matter of time before you start seeing quality titles come from there.

Sadly, this doesn't seem to be the start though :)

India does have some brilliant minds, I think its not the region that makes this a bad game but rather the mixing of religion and gaming that makes it auto-suck. Well, that the trend in America anyway.

Games have been made in India for quite a while:

Trine Games (http://www.trinegames.com/games), mostly PC crapware
IndiaGames (http://www.indiagames.com/corporate/Index.html), Mobile games, ironically including the mobile version of The Office
Mauj Telecom
Paradox Studios
Nazara Tech
Dhruva Interactive
Aurona technologies
VBeing Software
Small Device
Gameloft Software
EA Mobile Hyderabad
Boomslang Studios

Mostly in Mumbai, mostly mobile games, but still.

I'd love to see some gameplay videos. Is it a FPS or platform? I need more info to make an informed ridicule.

It's a shoddy God of War clone with a stronger emphasis on platforming.

Wow... that... uh... yeeeahhhhhhh..... no.

I normally am somewhat derisive of the argument that 'depicting our holy figure is an act of desecration', but in this case, I can see their point...

Aaaahahahahahahha.... Ahhhhhaaaahahahahahahahahha

That's fucking golden! Ahahahhahaha

OMG... I can't stop laughing.....

whew... okay.......

seriously, though.... (just a minute, I need to laugh again....)

okay... seriously though, why do people get their panties in a bunch over depicting religious figures? I just don't understand it.....

I mean, thousands of years ago HUMANS NEEDED RELIGION to overwhelm our group desire to go rouge and become scavengers (a step back).... Religion was always there to draw us back in, mostly through the use of fear.... and it served it's purpose.....

But in this day in age it just seems ridiculous. Do we really need to fight and murder over such things any longer?

I feel the human race is on the precipice of change, but I'm not sure anything will happen to push is into a critical mass of capable of this movement. Not many people stop to think that we helped create a new age, the Information Age. Ages don't happen often, just look how long the Bronze age lasted! It seems like it's speeding up, but not quick enough for me. I wish remnants such as religion would wither and die..... we'd be so much more peaceful on a national and global level. Hell, we might not even need nations after losing religion. (nations are another remnant I'd like to see go the way of the dodo)

Yeah, ok. It's a pretty terrible looking game. But these guys haven't been doing it for decades like the US, Europe, UK and Japan have. They are catching up fast.

I'm just amazed there's a gaming website geared for Indians. Anyone else think that's strange/unnecessary?

Wow. It's funny if you look at the youtube comments, there's people angrily defending the game.

what do you know about game implementation? for sure you didn't nothing but playing games. Today almost all games take advantage starting from a existent engine. Grow and study before speak.

Our? who are you? maybe did you take part of that or you only like to play games? I'm looking forward to see your first game made by yourself, if it's better than this, I'll agree with yoo.

that was pretty crappy, but hey, at least india's first video game wasn't a bunch of digital pixel boxes dodging each other.

People have to be reasonable, America started off with Pac Man, its alright that India was able to start with this

Hmmm, what's wrong with a gaming site being Indian? Should all gaming web sites be American to you? :p

I read a few articles and they aren't bad at all.

Well they're more than 1 billion people and one of the fastest growing economies... Why wouldn't there be a market for a Indian gaming website?

Everyone's jumping on the bandwagon, but it really doesn't look -that- bad. It's not slick by any means, but it's playable.

It's not like, say, 'E.T.' on the Atari-bad.

I suppose not, but I looked at it and my first impression was it was made by American Asian Indians and geared for the American market. After reading a little more, it's clear this is intended for a primarily India audience. I was also thrown by the fact it was in English, the second language of India.

Perhaps. But when you're one of the poorest countries in the world, there really is nowhere to go but up. My father visited India a few years ago and was shocked by the massive amounts of poverty and slums he saw there. There's also no middle class there whatsoever. You're either rich or poor, and unfortunately most are poor.

- Mmm, this is a bit inaccurate, needs context. India has made great strides economically, even compared to the rest of the world:

"With one of the fastest growing economies in the world, clocked at an average growth rate of 8% between 2004-2005, India is fast on way to become a large and globally important consumer economy. The Indian middle class, estimated to be 300 million people[7] by Indian standard (but much lower by European or North American standard), is fast becoming used to Western culture.[citation needed] If current trends continue, Indian per capita purchasing power parity will grow to be approximately one third that of the developed world by the middle of the 21st century.[citation needed] In 2006, 22 percent of Indians lived under the poverty line. India aims to eradicate poverty by 2020.[8]" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_of_living_in_India (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_of_living_in_India))

Realize that having 300 million-people in their middle-class is equal to the total population of the United States. The future is bright for India and its people, it's well on track to becoming a modern nation and has made great strides towards bringing itself and its people out of the slums. The India of today is a paradise compared to the India of 1909, and getting better all the time.

In short, a single visit to India can't possibly have given your father a comprehensive assessment of the state of Indias populace, so a little fact injection here helps clarify. For all we know, your father could've visited a particularly poor area or w/e.

I have no problem with religion in my games; deicide is a favourite meta-hobby, actually. You should play God of War and see how you feel afterwards. :D

Hahah. I read the review and didn't understand the hate from the screenshots. It looked pretty professional...and then I saw that video. Jesus Christ.

It is ridiculous to think that India doesn't have the technical ability to do good games. I've never seen them really stretch themselves creatively - as a country they seem to stick to what they know.

EDIT: Hah I did a funny and didn't notice.

Actually India has incredible poverty. New Delhi is certainly a wealthy area but a large percentage of the population are really struggling.

This is why so many call-centres out-source to India because the average wage is so low.

Honestly this is what I'd expect from a title that was in its early pre-alpha stages, before it had a solid art and animation pass, and when the code was still incomplete. To say it's the most horrible console game ever is inaccurate. More accurate to say it's an incomplete and horribly unpolished console game that needed another six months.
